Hope we actually invest the money though.

I can't get excited about it yet or even the CL money because I know we are unlikely to see huge investment, even though it would really tide us over for a while.

Pretty surreal to see him potentially going for £50m as well when a couple year ago he was playing up in Dingwall. Scottish fitba is * but...yanno.

I don't get this line of thought, we publish our accounts every year so we can how much money we bring in and how much we spend, if vasts ammount of money were not being invested in the club we would know about it. we might be able to bring in a couple players in the £3-£4 million bracket but one season of champions league after missing out last 2 seasons isn't going to vastly change our spending

Agree, I also don't get the whole wanking session within our support when the CL or Players money come in and we don't see it or hardly see it put back into the Squad. Its so frustrating knowing if re-invested correctly we could well bring in a good quality addition to the squad.

I'm not talking about huge amounts of spending or a huge swing in our spending strategy in general.

If you could look up my posts on here regarding this subject you'd see tjat I'm pretty realistic in terms of what I expect. I do realise I used the word 'huge' in my original post but perhaps worded it wrongly.I'd be delighted with three £3-4m players. That to me would be a 'huge' investment.

All I'm saying is although it's nice to know we are getting something out of this potential deal, I'd be surprised if it went back into the squad directly.

With Rodgers here now, who knows. I may be wrong. We have certainly shown more ambition in the past 6 months or so and I hope it continues.

I've always wondered about that, just how * badly mismanaged were we to not be able to spend the £50m odd we brought in from Lenny's last 16 run and the Wanyama, Hooper and Wilson sales?

It never went on the team, it wasn't lying in the bank. The * did we spend it on?

I'd imagine it was, given the funds at his disposal :drag:

Seriously though, I haven't a * clue where the money went, but I'm sure it WAS spent entirely appropriately.

Say he was right, that we were losing £10m per year with no Huns (rip) in the league anymore - so there's an alleged £30m right away. Then you have whatever money we had to pay outstanding to sacking Mowbray and his backroom staff (as well as the £2m we paid to get him from West Brom) - maybe around £5m? Half the duds on the books wages needing paid cause no * would buy them? Squad travel costs, stadium bill costs, inflation costs, PR costs, stadium improvement costs.............I dunno.

Probably got all sorts of underlying costs that we have to pay. The florist, the face painter, the roll shop. I mean you have to keep up with these costs. Not to mention Dudu Dahans annual Christmas bonus

its all here, we made a total profit of about £20 million in lennon's last 2 seasons, however we had made a loss of 7 million in his second season, and a 2 million loss under mowbray, and i think we me made a loss of 4 million in ronnys first season.

under lennon as far as im aware we brought our debt down to more or less zero and paid off some soft long term loans earlier, and have a few million in the bank, which was a smart move, rangers dying did bring alot of uncertainty.

He will still be a bargain. Man City will still make a profit when they sell him on to one of the big clubs in a year or two.

Still be a bargain compared to what they paid for stones :56: guys good enough to solidify there defence, play that style of peps and possibly sneak 2nd.

I hope Southampton aren't playing the bluffing game which sometimes ends in the pursureing club saying forget it and losing interest. Wasn't his rumoured fee £30m a couple months ago, then £40 then £50 now £60m?

I mean City are minted and need a good defender so that's still a decent price but Southampton have already said they don't want him to leave. After reading some fans comments I can understand why they would wish to dissuade clubs from pursuing him until the summer because apparently Southampton would possibly be in a relegation battle if it wasn't for his performances. So the club might be thinking if they lost him in January they could slip into Fat Sam's gravitational field which is hard to escape from.

Then again, City are in a position right now that they need to solidify because if Chelsea slip up please * then they need to be ready. Will they be willing to wait?

They should offer £30m plus Stones. Oh no wait * that, then we won't get our %. Just give them the £60 Pep. He's better than Luiz and look what he's doing for Chelsea.

This will end up * up somewhere and we wont get fuckall can remember speculation of mcgeady going to zenit from spartak for 30m or wanyama to arsenal . Maybe southampton will sell him for 50m and send us dodgy paperwork that says they gave him a free transfer.
