Man UTD and Chelsea are CL teams so you would have thought a wee diddy cup that ALL English and Welsh teams dream of winning would have made it a dawdle to them to beat lesser sides.

exactly. what do you think they'd rather do? have fresh players for the CL and league run in... or win a diddy cup?

i would say the gulf between pompey and man u is as great as the gulf between us and barca from a finacial perspective. henry was on the bench and he cost more than our entire team ffs

Some of the English see the FA cup as just as big as the CL:56::56:

    Me on Strachan

When he came I was of the opinion that he was a smarmy wee *. Gave him a chance as manager as thats what everyone deserves is a chance. He came good after dodgy start and delivered us success at home and abroad. My opinion of him changed and I started to enjoy the success we were having. I defended him to the hilt in here as he was producing the results that were needed. Now after two leagues in the bag and we have a serious threat to our title I find myself wanting to see a different side to the man. Does he have the skills to motivate the team enough so that everyone fights for the cause? Yes he has been successful and has tried to bring in 'football players but can he get these guys to fight tooth and nail for the jersey? This I really am starting to doubt, and after travelling all the way to Barca for my first European away game, I expected that we came out and had a real * go. There was nothing to lose and he decided to go all defensive, the exact way we slag the huns for. WHY? Only he knows that one but for me I felt let down big time. But he tried some thing and it didn't work, inside he will know he done wrong. But from now I think that he needs to do something. A fighting team is what we need to win the league and that was far from what we have seen recently. If he can get us to another title then all my fears about him will be gone, but if not then my opinion will be that he lacks the skills that are required when a fight is on his hands..........

Good luck WGS, get the * * who dont give it there all * told!!!

You are the only one who can do it, Hail Hail

people slate WGS for not being able to handle pressure before he has even lost the league. However people seem to be forgetting that "St Martin O'Neill" never won a title when there was any threat from Rangers. So how do we know he could cope with pressure?

Ultimately it comes down to the players having the bottle , Many of the teams in high profile Martin O Neil defeats inluded some youngsters (David Marshall especially) so it's hard to gauge.. Teams are mean't to be a reflection of their manager I suppose but sometimes things just don't go your way.. We lost the league cup final to Raith on penalties but Im not sure I'd hold Tommy Burns accountable on the day.. (more the fact it was played at hun park)

Some fans wouuld say Burns couldn't handle the pressure in the league but points per games he's well up there with any modern manager (I think)

    ok mate good post.

you say he bought in footballers and asked them to play football. now he needs to get them to fight tooth n nail...i think he just needs them to play football...we have three home games against the huns, and the better players are with us, the "footballers" as you say...the big test for WGS is to apply the tactics that give our "footballers" the chance to play. we have three hun games and need to play good football that Strachan has aimed for from the start nothing has changed rangers r just a bit better.

two home games against the huns , one at Ibrox.. The only thing is , the 3 games you mention are the biggest of the season but history tells us games agaisnt the huns are never about flowing football where we outplay the opposition.. More often it's who wins the battle that wins the match , or who counter attacks the opposition the best that comes away with the points.. As well as showing good discipline , heart and a never say die attitude..

I think we do play football at times mate but in a lot of games when you are under pressure you don't get time for your Nakamura's and Donati's (?), to play football and they become invisible. We need the fighting together with the football. If we can't play our game because of maybe the pitch condition as we've seen recently away or a dogged 4-5-1 formation that we will see from the huns, then these guys need to get stuck right in. Everyone will need to get stuck right in, its our title thats at stake and there can be no excuses that we have better players but fail to win. Football and the desire to go that extra inch is required now. Do we have it?

in the first match against barca why did stracs bring on wilson, he was just back from injury so surely it would have been better to try him from the start incase the injury reocurred, also caddis had not done to bad.
so for me this was a wasted sub and he signed naylor and caldwell so should shoulder some of the blame.

The manager is and will continue to be as long as he is here, the most contentious issue at our club.

If people wanna discuss it, its better to do it here, so leave the thread be.
