I'd say he's thinking of his father and of Tommy Burns.

"He'll probably go back to the prem in a couple of years"

Yet he's literally tearing up at the realisation of being a Celtic manager. 5 years at least.

I think Brendan's mission will take 4/5 years. The way he talks about when he signed for us and his plans.

He said he Dermot and Peter asked him to be the architect of Celtic and also that he wants to take his time building the team. Sounds like at least a 4 year project. Anyway, whatever it is I'm enjoying it right now.

Unlike Andy the downer Walker who says 2 years and he'll be away. Does he ever say anything positive about Celtic?

He has said on several occasions that he's here for the long-term.

He will be the one to lead us to ten-in-a-row, of that I'm certain.

That's probably the most positive Walker has been about us in years. I'd have expected him to say Brendan will be off by January.

:56: :50: To be fair he said the football we're playing is good. It just felt like he was adding, but it won't last long. :40:

Being a pessimistic person I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

Would love to see him here for at least 5 years and do the 10. He'd still only be around 47 by that time. Nothing in management years.

I just hope he really means what he is saying in terms of building something great. I'm sure he does but always that niggling feeling at the back of my mind. Purely down to him being a high class manager, I'll always have that fear.

We looked a bit frustrated in 1st half, and they got lucky, two great strikes from Moult gave them advantage. I was calm because I knew that we would score at least one goal and put pressure on them, but it turned out even better for us since Brendan did a great job before start of the 2nd half, and put McGregor in midfield with 3 at back, so we had so many attacks which made Motherwell simply collapse at one moment. The thing which I really like is that Brendan has a great decision making, decisions he makes during games have great influence on our play.

BR: "I'm absolutely delighted with the result, and the second half performance showed we are a winning team with a winning mentality.

BR: "We were disappointing defensively in the first half and the team couldn't press as the back four were too deep.

BR: "Our game was a little broken and they were deserving of their lead, they scored two very good goals but really poor defending.

BR: "We needed to change the momentum of the game so we changed the shape of the team to 3-diamond-3 to give them different problems.

BR: "It was a big risk, especially with the spaces it can leave, but the players were exceptional.

BR: "The players' level technically and tactically, how they worked the spaces and the goals were sublime."

BR: "In those adverse moments they kept fighting and that shows you the spirit and quality in our squad."

BR on matchwinner Tom Rogic: "He's an amazing player, a real high level of technique, and he's improving his stamina all the time.

BR: "He can get goals and he's scoring important goals, an outstanding contribution.

BR: "There were a number of very good performers in the second half."

AN ELATED Brendan Rodgers hailed his players' winning mentalty after their stunning second-half fightback against Motherwell saw them stretch their lead at the league summit to 11 points.

Trailing 2-0 at the break to Louis Moult’s double, Celtic hauled themselves back into the contest early in the second half thanks to Callum McGregor’s smart finish.

In the space of an astonishing two minutes Patrick Roberts then levelled the match for the Hoops, Lionel Ainsworth put the hosts back in front and then Stuart Armstrong restored party.

The champions kept pouring forward as the clock ticked down in search of a winner and they got it through a sensational strike from Rogic in the 90th minute.

Collecting the ball at the angle of the box, he sent a curling effort beyond Craig Samson into the far corner, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling support.

Speaking after the game, the manager said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the result, and the second half performance showed we are a winning team with a winning mentality.

“In the first half we were disappointing defensively. The team couldn’t press like we do as the back-four were too deep, particularly my two centre-halves. We weren’t aggressive enough in the game.

"Up front, we didn’t hold it up so our game was a little bit broken and they were deserving of their lead, and I thought they scored two really good goals but poor defending from us.

“We needed to change the momentum of the game so we changed the shape of the team, going to three-diamond-three to give them different problems and give us more numbers inside, keeping the width and it also allowed us to attack but still have the stability of the back-three.

“It was a big risk at 2-0, especially with the spaces that sometimes it can leave, but the players were exceptional in how they accepted the risk and the level they played at technically and how they worked the spaces tactically, and the goals were sublime.

The Irishman heaped praise on matchwinner Rogic, who has now scored 10 goals this season, including in the League Cup triumph over Aberdeen six day ago.

“He’s an amazing player, with a real high level of technique and he’s improving his stamina all the time,” he said. “He’s playing in different positions for us but what he can get goals and he’s scoring important goals. His contribution was outstanding.”

But the Hoops boss was also keen to acknowledge the efforts of the rest of the team after they rallied superbly after the interval.

“There were a number of very good performers in the second half,” he continued. “The boys down the sides really opened up the pitch for us, Stuart Armstrong was exceptional, along with Cal (Callum McGregor). Browny provided that protection and Tom in that no.10 role was exceptional.

“Moussa was quiet today and he wasn’t as good as he has been but he’s still handful because of his presence. It wasn’t one of Kolo’s better days but he came back and kept fighting and working, and it was much better from him in the second half.”
