Aye, it was clear as day that he was still injured when he returned last season as he couldn't even run and seemed to have no energy. People do lose their legs but not over the space of 2/3 month from normal to guy who looks like a 45 year old.

 

Aye, when the manager had repeatadly said that he rushed him back, he wasn't fit but the manager thought he was too important to the team. Especially because this is far from the first time Broony's form has dipped whilst playing through injury.

People saying that he was trying to get Ronny the sack I can't believe some * have watched him for almost 10 years and haven't clocked on to the type of character he is yet.

It was very special to be part of the club’s 100th trophy win and the importance of the occasion was reiterated to us before the game started.

“When we went into the Huddle, Broony spoke to us about that.

“He told us we had a chance to make history by winning the 100th trophy and how much that would mean.

“Scott has been through everything at Celtic. He has been here for many years and knows exactly what it means.

“He has been in that position so many times and made sure we were all aware of what was at stake.

“For a guy like him to speak to us with such raw passion in the Huddle was lovely.

“It was great to hear his words before the game and really motivated us to go out and win the game.

“As soon as that whistle went, we were all determined to go and show what we are capable of.

CAPTAIN Scot Brown has hailed the importance of the Celtic collective after the Hoops’ dominant League Cup victory over Aberdeen.

It was the club’s 100th major honour and the midfielder has now skippered the champions to nine of those trophies and played a part in 11 of them.

Once again, his contribution in bringing silverware back to Paradise was significant as he turned in an outstanding performance in the middle of the park to drive his team on to a 3-0 triumph at Hampden.

Personal praise or individual accolades are never something the 31-year-old is comfortable with, however, and it was no surprise that he was keen to highlight the contribution of his colleagues, Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the management team when he spoke exclusively to this week’s Celtic View.

“It’s fantastic,” he said. “It’s a great honour to be the captain of this club and it’s a great honour to be playing with these top-quality players, and to have a top-quality manager and backroom staff as well.

“We’re all together and that’s the main thing. We enjoy it and celebrate when we win trophies like this. You saw us all celebrating together because we’re a close group.

“I’m playing football with a smile on my face – probably the first time that I’ve done so in 15 years – but it’s been fantastic. It doesn’t matter about my own performances, it’s about success for this club and the gaffer’s done that."

 

That's his best attribute IMO. Broony doesn't react; he sees it all coming a mile off. Erik's pretty decent at that too (superb for his age).

 

He is immense. Only butch could deny that now.

SCOTT Brown believes Celtic’s UEFA Champions League campaign this season has been a valuable learning experience that will stand the team in good stead going forward.

Having qualified for the group phase for the first time in three years under new manager Brendan Rodgers, the Hoops lost heavily in their opening match away to Barcelona.

But the Bhoys bounced back with a dazzling display to draw 3-3 with Manchester City and also produced impressive performances away to Borussia Monchengladbach and at home to Barcelona, though ultimately it wasn’t enough to secure them European football beyond Christmas.

And as the Scottish champions prepare for their final group game away to City tomorrow (Tuesday) night, Brown was upbeat about how the team had fared against top-class opposition and positive about the team’s future prospects in the competition.

“The whole campaign from the start to now has been a learning process,” he said. “We got better after the first result and that’s what we aimed to do all the way through it, learning to play in the Champions League, and now it’s more about us focusing for next season and showing we are good enough to be back in it next season as well.”

“Everyone wrote us off after that first game, that we wouldn’t get a point and that we weren’t good enough, but we have been a bit unlucky and we could have won a couple of games and have six points but it wasn’t to be.

“The reason I signed at Celtic was to play in the Champions League and to enjoy nights like tomorrow and Barcelona at home,” continued the captain.

“It’s been great to get back into it as the last few seasons have been very disappointing as we didn’t do well in it (Champions League) or the Europa League, but we had a fresh start this season and it was all about performances when we got to the Champions League with a new manager and players.

“Now it’s about pushing on as far as we possibly can in the next couple of years with this group of players. It’s all about building to the future, along with trying to keep hold of everyone that has been doing well this season.”

Brown reckons Celtic certainly won't be fazed at facing the big-spending English Premier League side in the City of Manchester Stadium given how they went toe-to-toe with them in the corresponding fixture in Paradise.

“It was a huge game for us,” he said. “We needed to do that, especially after going away to Barcelona and losing so many goals and not creating a lot of chances.

"But we believed we could bounce back and we could play against these teams, and the belief and the form has slowly improved after the first game.”

“Our fans pushed us on. We did well, we pressed them high up the park and forced them into making into mistakes and we scored a couple of goals.

“We lost a couple of goals but you are playing against a great team, they are going to create chances and we were just a bit unlucky on the night. Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow.”

"We want to go and enjoy ourselves," added the midfielder. "The pressure is kind of off everyone as well so we can go and perform.”
