The Captain is going down as a legend when he finally decides to hang up how boots.

His performances in Europe this year have honestly been extraordinary. I mean we know he's a good player and a brilliant ball winner capable of being the driving force in the team, but I don't think many really saw him coming up against the best midfielders on the planet this season and coming out on top more often than not.

Looking forward to seeing him back in Europe again next year, hopefully partnered by a capable midfielder.

It's not just his energy and drive, he's playing with more intelligence imo.

I'll be honest, I didn't read too much into his pass rate statistic a while ago, as I always thought he only ever passed sideways or backwards, but his range of passing now, as well as weight of pass, has dramatically improved in a matter of months, to the point it makes him look the complete holding midfield player.

He's playing the football of his career right now, and Brendan Rodgers has turned him into a player who can hold his own with the best in Europe.

Was it him who slipped Sinclair in when he was offside?

Perfect example of how he's adding more to his game. Brilliant. He was everywhere tonight again.

I wanted him out the team for spells of last season, as I thought he was right off form, that may have been down to him playing with an ongoing niggle?

This season, however, he has been absolutely outstanding. Looks to have gained a yard or two of pace, and as has been said previously, he does not look out of place against some of the best midfield players in Europe.

BR on Scott Brown's display: "He was outstanding - aggressive & strong - and across the team we had good performers.

I have always been the first to criticize brown over the course of his celtic career but his form in the last few months has been outstanding...he was everywhere tonight.

Set the tone early on with some crunching tackles. Didn't sit back to admire them. Thought he was brilliant tonight. Needs a quality partner in there.

He was tremendous tonight, can't believe the turnaround since last season.

Must be demoralising to go from playing alongside the likes of Ledley, Wanyama, Ki etc to playing with Armstrong McGregor et al.

Hopefully we sign a few good midfielders to compliment him.

Been great this season. Especially after his poor performances in the second half of last season.

If we can get a player or two to partner him in midfield then we can compete. I have always said that, our midfield options centrally have let us down, it's always brown and someone. 2 quality players in there and we can control games more and play on the front foot more often.
