    Not a chance....

    On mega bucks over there!

Was he even that pally with BR anyway?

Obviously still a great player but...

We need decent players who really want to play for us because it's us! Not because we are a wee 'detour' in the season break or a last resort, some sort of career ender.. A'la Roy Keane... fair enough, he was honest about his knee and quit when right , but just shows hat it was the * end of his career and we were never going to get the best of him.

We want players with their best years ahead of them. This is why Henrik will always rank high , not just for the goals and play, but because he gave us his best 7 years in his career.

Hopefully Rodgers can actually weild some clout and bring us the sort of player we need.

Yes.... Big Zlat is a pipe-dream but so was Brendan Rodgers not so long ago...

So let's hope and see what he can bring in!

He's made it clear he want to come back to the UK anyway, so I'm guessing it'd be a choice of some coaching role at Liverpool, or there's the possibility we could offer him a player/coach role perhaps.

Rumours seem to be on the increase. TBH I don't see why not if he's wanting a foot into coaching (which most ex-pros, ex-captains do!)

Liverpool would be the obvious destination (even they are hardly going to pay him 30k/week) but Klopp is a notorious autocrat and rebel so is unlikely to want to shake up his coaching staff.

Where better to cut your teeth than the SPL with Celtic? Massive club expecting to be in Europe group stages.

He's not getting paid entirely in money (sponsorship/advertising maybe also?) but top level experience, with advantage of working with a top manager in Brendan Rodgers.

From Celtic's point of view we get a proven elite-level winner. An (admittedly ageing) player who fits BR's vision and can pull the extraordinary. And most of all from LAwwell's point of view, a ticket seller.

I can see this happening, as poor value for money as he may be.

Win win for Celtic if they pull this off,the shirt sales alone will cover whatever wage he would get.

I didn't though. I had a feeling we'd end up with him about a week before we got him because of the immense pressure the board had to get him, after how the fans reacted to the rumors of us signing him. Getting Malky MacKay at that point would've caused riots and plummeting ST sales :smiley-laughing002:

I wonder what wages he would want though? He's 36 and still has a good engine, even a slower aged Gerrard has to be better than the likes of Bitton.

I'd take Gerrard over bitton every day of the week. Gerrard playing a bit deeper with brown along side him would be an excellent midfield pair.

I'd rather Brendan focused on trying to scout us a young hungry CM in the Wanyama mould.

But given how well Toure has done at 35, I wouldn't be against having Gerrard in the middle with Brown for a while. We are light in MF and Gerrard has plenty of experience, but I do doubt his hunger.

Last time I seen him he looked proper *.

Obviously will always carry that class but his legs seem to have properly gone now. In saying that, I'd love to see him in the Hoops. A player I have always liked which is rare as there are very few English players I can take to. Him and Scholes are about the only ones.
