    1. He tried to mix it up a bit and surprise barca - didnt work.

    2. De Vries looked way out of his depth, seems his positioning, shot stopping and anticipation are hugely suspect, unless he improves drastically we will need to replace him in January.

    3. Bitton is awful get him out.

    4. KT grew into the game was being asked to stay narrow but had to go out and protect the LB and covered Bitton sorry * in CDM

    5. Gamboa had a rough night although i thought Lustig was awful last night too and dont think he would have been any better than gamboa

Agree with every point you have made, I just hope that kt s confidence is not effected by being thrown under the bus, we were far too open, and if we line out like that against city we will be stuffed also.

    5-4-1 wasn't the problem.

It is exactly how I'd have set up and how the vast majority of people I saw and spoke to wanted us to set up. We did look like a side who hadn't used that formation very often though, which is the case. Needs more work.

The problem was our midfielders, didnt give enough cover, and we were wide open.

Good post and agree with every point.
    The 4-5-1 wasn't the problem.
The players in the system were the real problem. At least four of them were not up to scratch. Namely De Vries, Bitton, Lustig and Gamboa.
There has to be a full inquest into this and nobody is above criticism.

I would have gone 4-5-1. Why do we always play 2 v 3 in midfield it's asking for trouble especially against the worlds best.

Midfielders can engage the opposition higher up the pitch than centre backs. When they are in on the centre backs it doesn't how many we have we won't tackle them in the box.

Very poor tactically, outnumbered in the middle and the extra man in defence counted for nothing.

What we learnt last night is that Scottish football is very poor at present. Also Brendan needs to learn how to mitigate damage limitations when playing these top class teams. Getting beat 7 - 0 at any level is disgraceful. If the board and fans find it acceptable just getting through is good enough then we have dropped our expectations as a BIG club. We cannot keep turning up at the BIG table and getting hammered.

Nothing to do with Scottish football.

If you are going down that road then what about Spanish football because Valencia were shagged 7-0 in February and Bilbao, Deportivo and Celta Vigo have all had 6+ taken off them by Barcelona in the past year. Not to mention Bayern Munich being tanned 7-0 over two legs a couple years back. We unfortunately came up against a Barcelona side out for blood.

No-one will find it 'acceptable'. Some of our fans need to get real though.

That Bitton isn't good enough at this level.

His attitude is honking, I don't think it's anything to do with his ability. He has shown in the past he is a very good footballer, and can comfortably play in Europe for us, when he can arsed it seems.

In the end that was mostly down to tiredness, we looked * mentally and physically after they scored the 2nd since we missed the penalty, got no 2nd wind and everyone were chasing shadows.

It has a whole lot to do with it. The level of the opposition being regularly faced plays a massive part. Somebody might not like that coming from an Australian, and I won't bother with direct comparisons, however the one that matters is the direction - Scottish football is getting worse, whereas tonnes of other leagues around the world are improving.

Nobody (ok, not many) expect a win against Barca, but there's nothing wrong with expecting the team to do their best.

How do you explain them skelping Valencia, Bayern and Roma though? Or Real Madrid?

    No it doesn't.

Like I said, we could be playing in Germany, Spain or Italy, wherever and still get turned over and completely humped by Barcelona if we don't turn up and they do.

I'm not going to sit and blame Scottish football for that. We could have played Man City at the weekend as a warm up and then went to Barcelona and still got humped.

    Nonsense argument, for me.

It is all Keith Lasley's fault.

If we didn't face cloggers like him week in week out we'd have won.
