Well said, that's it in a nutshell for me :50:

Man City I have genuinely some sort of optimism for, not saying we will win but am confident will compete

What iv learned is if we're gonna adapt our entire playing style to a back 5 etc, and still loose 7-0 why bother. Let's just play like we play in the spl and loose 7-0 in style.

In the long term this 7-0 gubbing will do us more good than a 5-1 win against the mad hatters mob will.

I don't think he missed your point one bit, he was bang on for the record.

In that mood if you really think Commons and Ledley would have stopped a spanking last night then I think you are simplifying things way too much, pure passion wouldn't have had one iota of difference on Messi.....the guy is just top level in the true meaning of the word

I'm not missing the point at all. Those three players have taken a hiding in the Nou Camp as well, it's as simple as that.

Much better teams than us have taken a hiding in the Nou Camp.

    * happens.

    I agree with this.

If we had played Rogic instead of Gamboa last night would it really have been any worse?

We should just play our normal game (slightly tempered obviously) because we don't have the personnel to sit and defend for 90 minutes.

Learned that if you are playing Barca when they are on the back of a defeat just stay at home.

Learned that I will be the happiest man alive when Bitton leaves our club. Also learned that if we are going to be this soft we will be conceding goals for fun in CL.Should have been much more aggressive. We only got one yellow card. Not saying we should have been ranking up the cards like maniacs but we were too nice and showed too much respect. Its as if we accepted our fate of being hammered before the ball was kicked.

We were on a hiding to nothing from the start, Barca's speed , movement and just the insane qualiy of their players were just miles ahead of us.

    NEGATIVES

    1. Bitton- Not good enough. A defensive liability, too lazy and immobile- Sack the *

    2. De Vries- Loooks a very poor shot stopper and positionally inept

    3. Ball watching- We looked mesmerised by their play and ability and they ran off us all night.

    4. Tackling- We barely put a foot in last night, stood off them and they danced by us.

    5. Static- We could not live with their movement, didnt even register them running into our box.

    6. Cowardice- We started off pressing high, closing them down but shat our pants big time and receded into our shell.

    POSITIVES

    1. Sinclair- A tremendous asset for us at this level, takes the ball in tightest situations and manages to get forward dragging us up the park, The goalscoring Samaras?

    2. Brown- Was our best player and about the only one who get into their faces and closed them down, broke up some attcks and carried the ball forward for us.

    3. Roberts- less effective than sinclair but did look to carry the ball when he could get it- needs to work on defensive aspect of game.

    4. Kolo Toure- An absolute rock in defence and at 35 he has so much pace to cover his tackle on suarez in the lb position was amazing.

    5. Kieran Tierney- Had a rough night but was being asked to sit narrow then run out wide when they has it leaving him cuaght between two positions at times, he did improve as the game wore on and managed to cause barca some problems in an attacking sense.

    6. Dembele- Penalty aside he caused barca some problems, willing runner and can carry the ball forward- will be a massive asset when we actually have some ball to play with.

    7. Armstrong- Was really effective when he came on, worked hard and closed them down well, carried the ball up the park for us, a far better option than bitton.

Some people hopefully should have learned to stop getting so carried away with 1 game against * SPL opposition. We are still largely the same squad as last year. Some good additions have been made, but wake up, we are still * and coasting it in Scotland means nothing when it comes to Europe.

We need to get to a stage mentally where we do not allow Scottish teams to breathe against us; dominate them so much, they start crying. It's only once we have that 90 minute ruthless tenacity, that I believe we can bring a team mentally strong enough for better teams.

When you watch the likes of Atletico v Bayern last year, the mental strength of both teams, the concentration, that is our biggest shortcoming. I do not for 1 second believe we will EVER get near that level, but we need to be more professional, show more heart and fight and concentrate so much more.

Football is the most elitist it has ever been, Celtic will never get close to joining those ranks again.

To be honest last night reconfirmed my doubts that Brendan Rogers struggles to manage teams in Europe.

I was expecting a proper doing and Celtic got it.
Celtic have just got a group where we'll get nothing (finishing bottom).
Celtic just need to keep qualifying and adding a higher standard of first-team player (Sinclair), and also try to hold onto players for slightly longer.

    1. Playing 5-4-1 was basically the equivalent of suicide. Poor decision from Rodgers.

    2. People need to go easier on DDV. Yes he was poor last night, but lets remember he only conceeded one more than Forster did last time against Barca. Personally I think he's still carrying the injury he picked up in his last Forest game and was too soon to risk him, but he is certainly a better keeper than Gordon overall.

    3. Bitton was poor. I was clamouring for us to sign another CDM during the summer and my fears were proved correct.

    4. Tierney looked good against top opposition but it makes me worry how much longer we can hold onto him.

    5. Silly game to give Gamboa his debut in.

    Exactly

When you look at the teams strengths this season thus far, where are they? They're certainly not in the defensive half. If BR had set things up like any other game then at least retaining possession a bit more and having some more attacking players on the field might've resulted in a 6-1 or even 5-1.

I think BR made a mistake in this case. Sure it doesn't matter in terms of the result, but it matters that BR puts his hand up and says "I could've done better" and learns from it. Because it wouldn't have made a big difference in this game, but in future games it certainly could.

To be fair, no one ever said that we were good enough to compete at this level. We're all well-aware of the gap that exists. Brendan can do whatever he wants, but without resources - i.e. cold, hard cash - his hands are tied.

Brendan is probably still re-watching that game for the 6th time, he will by analysing it to death and will be well aware of the errors.

For me the players didnt turn up defensively at all they were slack, timid, static and watching the ball.

We caused our own problems for much of last night, Bitton was essentially a man down and played well for barca last night.

    We need better

We knew; we all knew, we needed a very solid DM. This wasn't delivered, and we therefore got annihilated. Make no mistake, that was a * terrible performance from us, rather than some kind of momentous display by Barca.

If you look at our performance in Israel, we couldn't keep the ball and looked really nervous, that was a game we went into with a 3 goal cushion, so the warning signs were there against a team of much lesser ability than Barca.
