    Not sure.
Course they will, otherwise it'll be 4 hours. If that's all that they are due to work at the moment I can't see that improving as they wouldn't be needed for much else.
Normally it's averaged out over 12 weeks, still in talks with what way to work it but at the minute (with contracted hours) it'll be whatever you're contracted to is what you'll get holiday pay. For example contracted 4 hours, holiday pay 4 hours even if you average out more than 4 hours over the 12 weeks you will only get the contracted hours.

Lord Parkhead seems like a decent chap. Maybe he can sort it out.

Cleaning of the stadium is sub contracted out, done cleaning at Hampden before for extra cash and the company had us working like dogs for minimum wage (clearly understaffed), that same company done Celtic park at the time.

That company had a small nucleus of permanent staff who rotated around different commitments and then they had a bulk of temp staff made up of general dafties like myself :smiley-laughing002: it was all zero hour contracts for us. The cleaning staff are usually at the stadium for 4-5 days, 2 days prior preparing, game day and few days after cleaning up.

Got speaking to a few of the supervisors in the cleaning company and they said Celtic or the SFA at Hampden never gave a * about workers welfare, they were more concerned with cost and time spent in the stadium (both wanting the stadium tidied faster). Staff from Celtic and the SFA at Hampden would supervise and criticise the company quite severely and that trickled down to us.

Doesn't even surprise me. This Board is honestly putrid with their moral ambiguity, elitist, tory SCUM.

They have been challenged for years to reform these zero hour contracts and the salaries that come with it during AGMs, the Board have repeatedly regurgitated that its not in the interest of the 'Club' (the term should be Board, but legally its the Club) to change it.

The haunting reality is that under the corporate PLC structure the Club is responsible for the elected directors and shareholders only, which they recieve their salaries and bonuses(regardles of success), script dividends/dividends and use the Clubs revenue for expenses (flights, meetings, petrol, maybe even a company car etc). The Board are so engrossed with the corporatism that they are consumed with the business attitude that labour is a commodity. Well the current Board are so far removed its literally could only be described as a incongruity with our foundations. The situation is completely unacceptable.

I wouldn't hold any hope with this Board if I was you, even having that cognition process of thinking like that institutes an illusion. From Bankier, Livingston, Allison, Lawwell, Wilson and Desmond seems they pay no attention to this, instead its continous vigilance to ensure the Board receives their bonuses for the luxury of heated driveways with no considerations of Celtic staff being on zero hour contracts. That is the cold hard truth because the existence of this thread constitutes it.

Can you do that? I thought you could only give contracts for hours p/w and we might not play at home for 2 weeks sometimes.

Plus date /time changes, Cup ties, cancellation due to poor weather etc.

Every EPL and SPL club would have the same issues when trying to create contracts for casual staff on match-days. Surely this should have been investigated pre-season.

What is the accepted practice ? why have Unite chosen to raise this at this time with Celtic and how many other clubs have been approached ?.

I know young guys who work for EPL clubs ( one at Newcastle ) on match days and Im sure they are on "casual" contracts. If they don't want to / or cant work a match day they can refuse without any problem.

You'd think you'd be able to average it out knowing your home games in advance. There will obviously be extra games once you/if you qualify for Europe but at least they'd have a bit of security.

How many people do Celtic have on zero hour contracts and what types of work is undertaken by such people?

Perhaps if we had some facts we could make proposals. Pay rates are something that can be addressed and paying over the market rate should (in theory) mean that the club will attract quality people for such jobs.

Zero hour contracts for me isn't the issue in a seasonal based job, it's the living wage.

Its a load of *? You're right you were there at the AGMs when the Board were explaining it wasn't in the interest of the Club to reform this. :52:
