Think we'll get pumped. We are away from home in Europe where our results are bordering on pathetic/non-existent/disgusting/horrendous, and we're playing Barca. Only a lunatic could see us winning.

    I'm a lunatic.

Barca lost at the weekend to a team who I don't think are probably any better than us. So why can't we turn them over?

Because they won't rest the majority of their team and they rarely lose two on the bounce, never mind at home.

it would be heartening if we played aswell as we played against inter away a few years ago, where we had great possession of the ball in the game but lost due to not having any bite up front

Name me one team that's turned Barca over in recent years.

Folk need to seriously calm their jets :52:

They rested 7 players and our away record is horrendous.

It would take something incredible to get a result there. I'm not letting our recent form get in the way of reality:smiley-laughing002:

It's possible we can get something.

It's more possible we'll get a whipping, but why not go into the game with a bit of hope?

When everyone is fit, that should be our front three. :50:

    Obviously it is possible.

I'm just being realistic and thinking about what is most likely to happen. So that if we do actually manage something I'm even more elated.

This is a free shot for me. I have zero expectations.

Massively excited about this game! :icon_mrgreen: Not feeling particulaly nervous which is nice because there is no expectation to get anything and deep down I think most of us know we're gonna get hammered but a little part of me still thinks we can pull of the impossible and actually win a European away game :56: and this would be the king of all away wins! can you actually imagine if we somehow won? It would go down as one of the best weeks in our history! It would be Legendary. :notworthy

Can't wait. Buzzing! :celt_2: Back where we belong :shamrock:

It's going to take a monumental effort to come away with anything other than a defeat, but I'll keep believing till it's no longer possible.

Dembele to score first half.. Barca to score 80+ mins and pile massive pressure on for the last 10.

    Games ends 1-1 :icon_mrgreen:

What concerns me is that I hope the players don't become under the illusion of fear like a repeat of Hapoel Be'er Sheva away, passing the ball under unnecessary fright in case the opposition takes it off them. That situation is completely unacceptable. If we carry out that self-made difficulty then we will be forced into making irrational ball retention (hitting it out, misplacing passes and getting caught in possession) which plays right into the hands of Barcelona.

If any one has watched Diego Simeones documentaries he had to get rid of the illusion of fear playing opposition to retain possession. Well history speaks for itself and they are well organised and are very comfortable on the ball which sees them into UCL finals.

Hapoel was a totally different pressure.

We can relax in this game knowing it's a free swing. We are not expected to do anything in this group.
