If ever there was a time to explain yourself, now would be good. If I were you, I would be outing the 'source' that made me look a bit silly.

Can lower league English teams still make loan bids for Celtic players?

We can still ship players out on loan once the loan window opens down South.

It was a good window overall, but of course we're disappointed not to have improved the midfield after having improved every other area of the park - and we've qualified for the Champions League in Rodgers' first season.

Rodgers now has 3-4 months to work with the squad. That means he'll have way more time to work with players in training, and he'll have a chance to assess who he can rely on in big games. He also has a chance to identify targets etc.

No need to get our knickers in a twist. We've improved loads in less than 3 months, there where we'll be in February - or even this time next year.

if celtic failed in a bid for morrison its pretty * way to do business, it means we left it to the last minute, meaning no back up plan, and proves we are short in that area.

I'm a little bit disappointed we never got anyone else in but lets be honest here, another midfielder wasn't going to help us much in our CL group and we have more than enough to win the league.

As long as we do some business in January with a view to next years qualifiers then I'll be happy. Like it or not, that is our remit every season, to qualify for the CL and we done that this year.

Get business done in January so we aren't scrambling next summer.

We say that every year, the board hope we continue to do that.

Shocking that we make such an achievement and the board don't do * all to back the manager, the players and the fans.

Got our money and they are hapot, again.

Come January when we bring in one loan deal and a spl player are we going to then say "wait till summer when UEFA hand out the money"? We have a bank account with a lovely overdraft that knows this money is coming, the money is there to be spent now.

Or do we wait till June when Rodgers walks out because he can't take this club any further than champions league qualification because the board don't have half the ambition that the fans do? New manager comes in and we go through the same * of needing to get rid of some dead wood and giving the new manager time to judge the squad ?

Its every * season this pish, there is a reason why we struggled for 3 years to get to the champions league, and a reason why we almost * missed out on it again. Those qualifiers were not easy and we showed glaringly how we can be beaten.
This board are risking everything again for short term money gain and expect the fans to be fickle enough to play along.

For all the chat 2 months ago about how Desmond must have came in to play and brought Rodgers in, how he must be unhappy with lawwell and the past running of the club, some how doubt that now. Because it all resorted to type - bar bringing in Rodgers - we are no better or differently ran than this time last year.

Project signing in dembele, don't be fooled because he came from england, its still a project and if his talents were that great surely a half decent epl club would have taken the gamble. Lets not fall in to the sevco way of thinking with that Liverpool player. Epl clubs love to through stupid money around, do we really all believe the hype around dembele is so great that these clubs magically over looked him and we snapped him up for 500k? "Oh but they would have to have paid a bigger fee if they went for him" aye because throwing 20mill at mediocre youth players isn't done down there.

Sinclair is also a journey man, his career didn't go as he hoped and he just got relegated. He wanted out do that club more than anything else. With Rodgers at the helm it made us a proposition for us, more so with the tease of champions league. But does anyone believe that other than those two factors (and his wage of course) he would be here? No chance, he could have still went to a bottom half epl club, maybe for more money. Credit where it is due, it is a good signing for us, but he is here for one reason, play in the champions league and get his career back on track. First sign of 10mill next summer and this board will snap the hand off. To entice players even like sinclair you need To have things like Rodgers and the champions league, we need to show that continued investment to sign more like him, or better.

Toure is similar to sinclair, in that Rodgers is the reason he is here. He is also 35 and wasn't wanted by Liverpool. Their fans rate him and would have been happy to see him given another year, sure. But clearly the club didn't. 35, he wasnt going to get a big club again, till we showed up. Another 1 year signing to steady a ship, but what happens when he gets injured and leaves in 10 months? Thank * we weren't about to sell another cb.... Oh wait.

Do I need to go on? De vries, 35 year old championship player, hardly a coup.
Gamboa, run of the mill unwanted player. Could be another Izzy and do well. Nothing special in the capture.

The ambition from this board and the signings we made all was smoke and no fire. This time next year expect the same again, as it was a year before, and before....

Honestly we need at least someone better than lawwell at the front of the club now. He is an accountant, not a football business man. He runs the place solely for maximum profit and takes zero footballing risks. Proved today by the fact that simply being in the champions league is enough. The money won't drastically increase if we out in a decent performance, as we will likely finish 4th regardless. So why spend is is point. Why reduce the size of profit.
He has also been in the job far too long, longer than most CEO of big business, where the rule of thumb is to not have a CEO last this long as things become stale and they become too comfortable and safe. Companies like change and fresh ideas to keep pushing them forward. We don't.

If anything just * change lawwell.

In fact celtic, to save us from the let down of this window now, move lawwell on and pay off Ambrose. It will at least make things positive.

Bare with me, but that shouldn't be just our remit. Every time we hire a new manager the long term goal should be to win everything we enter. Obviously winning the * champions league is not going to happen. But every manager should be building continuously to get to that goal. However unrealistic it is. Short term the goal this season could be argued just to get there, next season is to perform, season after to get through to last 16, season after quarter final...etc.
At some point (last 16 perhaps) we will hit a glass ceiling. But no way should it be where we are now.
Otherwise what has Rodgers got to stay here? Job done otherwise.

Christ Lennon left under these exact reasons.

midfield is weak as water as it , no doubt we might get a free agent coming and the board will say ..we tried guys

Same every year CL or no CL.

Dissapointed that we have not brought in some quality in midfield

Sinclair, Toure, Gamboa, Dembele, De Vries...

If we had left just one of them until 11pm last night people would be hailing this as a good window. :smiley-laughing002:

It's not been a bad window I just can't believe they haven't got one in since qualifying to solidify the middle of the park.

Honestly, I'm not that bad. Just annoyed this morning. Give me till the 10th when we out that zombie mutant club in their place and all will be good.
True, and that's how these things tend to work, we are fickle and would have felt the board done more if this was the case. But it wasn't and it turns out that since guaranteeing the champions league money, we have spent 1million. Hooray.

This is what we say every year. I won't be having any big expectations come January especially if we are well clear in the league and out of Europe.

I am a disappointed as any that we didn't bring in another CM, preferably a big destroyer. That said, after sleeping on it, I think we have got a wee bit carried away. I look at the signings we brought in and they have improved the squad, no question. Sinclair and Toure look excellent so far. We had to trim the squad and add quality which I feel we have, so for me this has been a good window. I don't pay too much attention to the money we have paid as splashing £6mill doesn't guarantee a top player, same as £500k doesn't guarantee a * player. I have no doubt we were trying to get another 1 or 2 in yesterday so for people saying they wish we had just said nothing would happen, we may have been trying to get stuff done. Need to compare where we are to the end of last season and I'm happy with how far we have come in such a short time. I understand the frustration of folk wanting us to go out and spend a wedge but we know by now that Celtic aren't going to fling cash about and given some of the deals we seen yesterday...I don't think we would have got much value.

No we wouldn't because we'd still need a CM.

The 5 players you mentioned were actually essentials rather than luxury players or whatever you want to call it.

A lot of good points there. Don't agree to such an extent re the signings but I have maintained for a long time now that Lawwell is the single biggest obstacle in Celtic progressing.

He's said before that we don't bank on making the UCL group stages, yet when we do....we don't invest in a squad which by the manager's statements requires strengthening.

Rodgers has worked nothing short of a miracle to shape Deila's bunch of cowards into an outfit to qualify, he must be livid after having done this we haven't backed him with 7 days to move for his targets.

To go into a campaign on 4 fronts with Griffiths (who hobbled off on Saturday), a 19 year old Dembele who is still finding his feet and the unconvincing Ciftci is simply incompetent.

No-one is asking for unrealistic investment. £3-4 million would have sufficed for a DM and back-up striker (possibly a loan deal) but once again our manager has one hand tied behind his back whilst in all likelihood Lawwell will pick up a record bonus in this financial year.
