Sorry i've heard this argument a number of times now regarding the budget. There is a key difference. Every club in england is stretching their budget because they know they are guaranteed £90+ million per year for the next three years at least. They can afford to do this while we don't have this luxury, if we spend big and then don't get through the qualifiers next season then we are putting ourselves into financial danger.

We've managed to bring in sinclair rodgers toure and dembele, the objective was to make the champions league this year, anything else is a bonus, we are making great progress but rome wasn't built in a day!

No one is asking us to compete with England, were asking to set out our budget for the CL group stages.

I agree we will be strong enough to win the league comfortably, it just feels like today has been anti-climatic with some of the names linked and end up with nothing added to a weakened midfield

Maybe just maybe Lawwell and Rodgers are working on possible signings together and it's actually Rodgers thats calling the shots.

Doesn't really matter if we signed anyone or not going into that Champions League group. We could have signed * Iniesta and got spanked.

Alternatively, maybe just maybe Lawwell puts the 'onus' into 'bonus'

We signed Scott Sinclair and Kolo Toure and one of the most sort after young strikers in British football I am more then satisfied with this window

    This is true.

However the midfield needs tweaked regardless, even for Scottish football.

So Spurs bid for Sissoko at the last minute meaning any hope of McCarthy is all but dead and Juve/Zenit talks breakdown resulting in Juve no longer needing to shift Hernanes.

    Brilliant. :31: :54:

'No ambition to make the last 16 of the CL. Every other club is stretching there budget.'

every other club is stretching their budget i.e. clubs in England are stretching their budgets, i've seen a few posts saying we should be spending big money i've seen a few saying we should be spending 20-30million! Some wanted to pay £12million for Mccarthy etc etc..

fact is quality game changing players are hard to come by and we can't compete in the transfer market for these players even with the CL money

CELTIC are delighted to announce the signing of Moses Batunfata from Indonesian Premier League side Persijap Jepara on a four-year deal.

The Ugandan internationalist has notched up 23 appearances for his country.

A quick winger with an eye for goal, the 27-year-old has spent the past four years at Persijap Jepara after impressing for Hearts of Oak S.C..

The Ugandan becomes Brendan Rodgers' sixth signing of this transfer window on transfer deadline day.

Rodgers said: "I'm delighted to welcome Moses to the club. He's a player we've been looking at for a while and has got the kind of qualities that you need to be a success at Celtic - he's an exciting player who resonates with the fans, and he has ability. It will be great to see him in action for Celtic."

Batunfata said: "It's a great feeling to join a club as big as Celtic. They are known all over the world and it'll be great to put on the famous green and white hoops and play in Celtic Park. It will also be fantastic to have the opportunity of playing in the Champions League. This is a dream move for me and I can't wait to start playing."

You don't know that though. Let's just blame Lawwell.

Seems to me like we are just going to settle for 4th place in the champions league group and no doubt strengthen in January for the qualifiers next season.

Very disappointing but not surprised, just hope this doesn't infuriate Rodgers as this one year rolling contract could become an issue next summer.:54:

Guys its a building process , it wont be all done in one window. This champions league campaign might be a sore one but the long term under Rodgers looks a fekkin lot brighter than last year.

yeah i'm pretty satisfied with the signings. All i'm saying is that in the last couple of hours or so, could they not have said "we tried, but we are done for the day" instead of leaving us hanging on. I thought it was common practice on the way out as you lock up for the night to let the fans know whats happening..but clearly not!
