McGregor and Armstrong quite simply aren't good enough. Then you have Ajer who has potential to be good enough but I wouldn't say he's ready just yet. That leaves Brown and Bitton. Bitton has the talent but is known for being quite uninterested and lazy in games. Brown is having a good season so far but there's nothing to say he won't revert back to last years form. As a pair, Brown and Bitton are still to put in a good shift this season, which is worrying, real worrying.

I'd say we really, really needed to buy a CM this transfer window and we haven't. Waiting until January is pointless because we'll be * out of the CL by then. Ah, well.

Would have been a more uplifting rumour than Robson-Canoe :icon_mrgreen:

Hopefully the board have been waiting for PTT to go home so that they can break the news of a new bhoy in the hoops. Good window overall I think, would like to have seen a few more players out and one in. Fingers crossed we can get someone in at CM before the window closes, if not it's not the end of the world. I feel that Ajer will come good in this team when he's fit.

Brendan was the best signing we made in this transfer window, i expect us to get pumped in the 3 CL away games no matter who we signed but we have a better team under Brendan now which should dominate Scotland, the CL for this season is just an added bonus

They've had a week since champs league qualification to get a midfielder sorted while they've also allowed Johansen and Allen to leave amongst others so stop with the utter nonsense.

No one is going over board with criticism, it is well an truly merited and the midfield we currently have is utter mince, we all know it.

Season tickets: 50,000 x £350 (average cost taking into account concessions) = £17.5 million

    International Champions Cup: £6million

    Dafabet sponsorship deal: £3 million+

Champions League qualification: £22 million (conservative estimate)

Johansen & Scepovic sales: £3 million

But that's my point. We've done that five times already. When would it end? You can't buy a new starting eleven every window. As it is we've brought five in which is pretty drastic change.

I understand that CM is now our weakest position and it would be nice to have signed one but it isn't the end of the world. We're in the strongest position we have been for years with a great manager. I'm hopeful that Bitton will regain form and fix our midfield issues. It just seems like people want something to moan about.

True, just sitting in front of the back 4, to help shore up the defence

Time for a bit of perspective.

    Players in:

    Dembele
    Gamboa
    Toure
    Sinclair
    De Vries

Dembele, Sinclair and Toure are vital signings that have immediately improved the team. De Vries and Gamboa are untested but 5 additions to the squad is a decent transfer window. There's no point in panic buying on deadline day just for the sake of it.

    ------
    Players out:

    Derk Boerrigter
    Carlton Cole
    Stuart Findlay
    Darnell Fisher
    Colin Kazim-Richards
    Paul McMullan
    Charlie Mulgrew
    Stefan Johansen

A couple of the above will have been on good wages at the club, so that frees up some wages and cuts the squad, which is what Brendan wanted. So, we all wanted a central midfielder and I think a lot of us got our hopes up with some of the names being linked to us, but we should be used to it by now. We're always linked with a huge number of players and such a tiny amount of them actually sign. McCarthy was always going to be unlikely due to Everton's demands plus the money he'd be on.

Ambrose knocking back a move is something he's entitled to do, probably for personal reasons, but his days at the club are clearly numbered. This will likely be his last season here.
