Think its hard to judge him by that. Our defence, bar Sviatchenko has been Swiss cheese. He's looked suspect but he's playing his first game with a new team and he's being asked to mark Neymar and Jordi Alba, not exactly Sam Nicholson? He looks a yard off the pace for sure, but he'll improve no doubt.

Think it's quite hard to make an instant impact on you're debut away to Barça, especially. Not many of our players have had pass marks so far.

 

As a team we are not used to playing 5 at the back and it shows, so I'm not judging him if he looks lost, as he's not used to playing in the team, period.

 

He doesnt even made an attempt there to defend against Neymar

 

Poor guys had no help at all from Roberts. Good luck marking Neymar & Alba yourself.

Deserves more time not fair to judge against barca away on debut. Shades of Ambrose starting vs Juve a few years back. Totally unecessary starting him tonight.

I agree it needs time before you can make a proper judgement...however sometimes you get a feeling about a player ie he looks good...don't get that feeling
