Are you saying you would stop supporting Celtic if we move league?

We want to be in among the best of the game in the Champions League, being in a league akin to the * Championship will do nothing to help that.

It wouldn't be me leaving. It would be them. Abandoning our history and traditions to chase money, no thanks.

What traditions and history would we be "abandoning", exactly? :97:

The premier league in england is no different to the champions league. We want to test ourselves against the best players and showcase Celtic to the world. Its time to grow as a club and get back where we belong at the top. This would be the chance of a lifetime that most clubs in Europe would take.

its only a matter of time we will have 3 divisions of a european league and it will only take a big sponser with plenty of cash to get it up and running .

Dermot will push for this big time, it's what he's always wanted. Equivalent of selling the soul of the club, * that. SPFL may not be an amazing league but * playing bottom division English football and having to go up 4 leagues playing wee * teams for years with no European football. Would lose a lot of fans if they want to go down that route.

Please tell me how we would be "selling our soul"? :97:

This could have the potential to make us one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Over 125 years of competing for the Scottish title, over 125 years of being a top tier club. Over 50 years of chasing European glory as a Scottish club.

If you want to support a rich EPL club, you have 20 to choose from. I want to support Glasgow Celtic, Champions of Scotland, to ten in a row and beyond.

dermot is just looking at the bigger picture here and thinking of the wealth of the premiership if it takes celtic 6 to 8 years to reach it . so if celtic were offered a place in the 5th tier the board will accept it .

Take that and you can kiss good bye to Champions League nights for a very very long time. I'm happy where we are, I enjoy us punching above our weight and giving the best in Europe a * nose from time to time. We'd probably end up being bought over by an Arab who would change the name of our stadium and fill our team with players that have no idea what the club is about or have any affection for it. The soul would ripped out of the club. You would never see the likes of Keiran Teirney breaking through.

No you can * keep it, cheers.

First of all: as of today, lets be realistic, we wouldn't be favourites against Southampton. Because they have the three best players from our recent history and could take anyone they want from our squad for the same 12 million they paid for them the minute they want. That doesn't mean they are bigger than us, that means that due to a market anomaly nowadays they have massively more cash than not just us but other european giants like Ajax or Porto.

If we played in the english fifth tier, every single good player from our squad that respects his football career would leave. There is no way internationals would accept this ridiculous situation. We would have a squad far worse than the one we have now, that one that would lose to Southampton. As I pointed before, look at what happened to the huns. Who would really care about watching we play village teams in 5000 people grounds in matches we are certain to win? 3 or 4 * years of this before we start playing decent opposition. This is irreparable.

By the time we reach the Championship, we would be in a serious handicap against those clubs and the need of rebuilding the entire squad. We almost certainly struggle to get promoted in the first try. There are already clubs in the * league 1 owned by arabian sheiks, shady chinese or russian bussinessmen and with a ridiculous amount of cash to spend. It doesn't really matter that we put 40k in every match and have a fan base around the world, these teams have an almost infinite amount of money.

Even if it all paid off, and we managed to reach EPL and compete with teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United, that have a name as big as ours, no, just no. I support Celtic for being a scottish club, created by irish, linked to a rebel image and left wing politics. Things like the display of support for palestine and the green brigade brought me to Celtic and it would be a betrayal of the values this club and their supporters stand for to become an english club. Certain a lot of supporters would leave and refound a club in the Scottish League and they are right.

Has anyone proposed the club is liquidated? As far as I know, that's the only way you lose your history.

So you're saying you'd rather see Celtic scrape the barrel playing in Scotland always the "little guy" in Europe, than go chase the money to potentially turn us into one of the most financially-powerful clubs in the world? Aye nae bother :56::56::56:

We are one of the biggest clubs of the world, in the ways that matter. First British Champions of Europe, winners medals and champions league football, #MatchTheFineForPalestine and the largest food bank collection in Britain, an identity and a culture. I do not understand why people are so desperate to suckle from Rupert Murdoch in exchange for some more TV time.

None of that would change though, or become less true.
FWIW, I'm not interested either. * dropping in to 5th tier. I could handle 3rd at absolute lowest, 5th is too much.

I didn't say lose, I said abandon. Celtic aren't Chelsea or Man City, would you not say that is a good thing? We are who we are and I am proud of that.
