Can't say I know much about him but Janko isn't ready for 1st team yet. Could be worth a punt

1 mill seems good business. Maybe a player who's just lost his way..

Fast as * and very attacking, having just read up a bit on him. Just under 50 caps for a decent Costa Rican side, who've played and done well at a couple of tournaments...So he has pedigree
    and experience..

I can see him being a Rodgers type player..

Think he is. That Costa Rica team at the WC were all about pace and high energy pressing. Suits our team down to the ground.

    Just hope he's decent defensively!

Aye we should be more like Barca with giants like Alba and Alves at full back, all 5 foot 7 of them.

You should have called it a day earlier bud, a lot of people thought you were a dumpling earlier you've now just removed all doubt.

I'd be pretty happy with him. A punt on an experienced player who's lost his way.

Never been one to defend doctor venglos, but I kind of see the point that he is (ham-fistingly) trying to make.

A lot of people on here have brought up the fact that we have quite a small defence which could see us targeted at set pieces etc, and it's a fair enough concern. Now here we are being linked with another relatively small defender, so it could appear that we are continuing to overlook a potential weakness in our back line.

Where I don't agree with the doctor is that RB isn't exactly the area of the back line where we could be lacking some height as we have lustig available for that position and as far as I'm aware he is one of our tallest (natural) defenders.

Gamboa would represent a different type of option on the right, the type that janko is supposed to be but hopefully a more effective option than him.

We potentially do need to add some height to the back line...a CB because efe and boyata are clearly not good enough, and jozo is still a relatively unknown quantity, and a LB if izzy was to leave. That would give us enough options across the back to be able to better cope for those matches where we could come under threat from set pieces a lot more, or with more physically aggressive front lines coming at us.

Full backs are always small though, barring the odd exception.

He is putting his point across as if to say that all full backs should be tall and that it is 'fact' when in reality it is purely his opinion.

Wide of the Mark MM, and I think you know it.
I was not suggesting all full backs should be tall. I was referring clearly to the fact if we signed Gamboa we would end up with two smallish full backs. Different story from the one you are trying to spin.

Gamboa has not kicked a ball hardly for Pullis in the last year.
Pullis obviously dozen't fancy him, probably because like me sees him as being too small and has been trying unsuccessfully to unload him for a year.

Why on earth would we want to pay £1M for a Pullis reject?
    It is insane.
This sounds like journalists lifting stories from Celtic forums
and making a headline article out of it. It is the way they work.
And it is wide of the mark in my opinion.

It's not wide of the mark.

Having 2 full backs below 6ft does not weaken us nor is it out of the ordinary. Most teams in world football are in the same position.

As long as the player can defend and get up and down the park I couldn't care if he is 4ft 9.

    Your exact wording was...

"he is too small to be a functionally good full back"

That, as a statement, is drivel. Don't try to change your story.

Pulis doesn't fancy him because all his teams are defensive as * and he likes to play centre backs at full back.

Can't say I know much about him.

But If Brendan wants him in, then that's good enough for me.

Well that is where you and I differ.
It is a perceived weakness to me.
If we have two full backs with equal abilities and one is tall and the other is short, I would always go with the taller one for a more compact, robust and aerially effective back line.

Thing is if he has been not getting games for a year it could be months before he is caught up.

Looking around online, no-one seems to have seen this guy much. Any improvement on Janko is welcome though.

    Fair enough.

However there aren't many tall full backs.kicking about with great aerial ability, pace, equally good going forward as in atrack and within our price range.

And before you say Callum Paterson....no.:smiley-laughing002:
