It's actually incredible what he's saying. He knows that they have been bombed this very week (perhaps last night too, I haven't checked) and people are dying and he agrees with the cause, but we still shouldn't do it because we've been told not to. :97:

Sometimes people ask me "Why do you support Celtic?"

With fans like this, how the * could I not?

Hail, hail! Absolute class from the fans once more. :shamrock:

It wasn't that long ago that blacks didn't sit at the front of the bus. Why? Because they were told not to.

    Told not to.

It wasn't that long ago that people of different race didn't marry in South Africa. Why? Because they were told not to.

    Told not to.

It wasn't that long ago that Irish immigrants to Scotland put up with bigotry and religious hatred without reporting it or doing anything about it. Why? Because they were told not to.

    Told not to.

And one last time, they were all told not to.

Fantastic effort by the support for a worthy cause.

Can someone give me a brief background as to why there is support for the Palestinian cause in particular ?

As has maybe been mentioned on here, and the update on the gofund page says, there are plenty more people willing to donate but have to wait until payday. I would like to give more but will have to wait until Wednesday :ynwacelti

The palestinians are oppressed living in an apartheid state and are painted by the media as the bad guys. They need any and all suppport that they can get.

Some feel the Palestinian situation mirrors what was happening in Ireland, so there is naturally a lot of empathy for them from their fellow oppresed.

But thats just a very brief summary, look in the politics thread for more in depth reasoning
