I would have Rogic in before McGregor too. Brendan must be thinking that Rogic may well be the player to use as a sub to change the game later on. Should he need to.

Not really, Lustig is a weak link at right-back nowadays. Rodgers must notice it too.

Janko is solid and it's difficult for anyone to get past him, he's too quick that even if they beat him he recovers and they need to beat him again. Lustig once someone beats him he's done, he's too easy to play against and lets too many crosses into the box or people to get time and space in behind him to cut in or make passes into the box.

Janko had to play regardless for me.

I would have played 5 at the back Janko Lustig Toure O'Connell and Tierney just to be safer from set peices too.

Surprised at the defence. We would be better with some extra height i.e o connell rather than janko

Was thinking of scores as close as it could possibly be but still puts them through.

McGregor will press and use keep possession better than Rogic..

Rogic is much more dangerous though.. Will be interesting to see who he goes with.

Im happy with the choice of McGregor, better for the counter attack, Rogic is a bit slow for breaking away.

McGregor also has more energy and is quicker to close teams down so we are a bit safer defensively and a bit quicker on the counter with him instead.

What's wrong with that back 4? Janko done well when he came on last Wednesday? Lustig can also play solid at CB. Wouldn't be the first play off 2nd leg he's played there.

I think this too, Lustig is better going forward for me but we're defending a lead and Janko is so quick it's very hard to get past him.

    I would go with

    Gordon
    Janko Toure O'Connell Tierney
    Bitton Brown Rogic
    Forrest Griffiths Sinclair

If we get a goal it's basically all over and I think, with Brown and Bitton sitting deep, that team's balanced enough to protect the lead and get one.

Is it an artificial pitch for tonight?

Cant remember seeing it was but it seems popular for Russian/Kazak teams to play on.

Id play Lustig before O'Connell at CB though and i'd play McGregor before Rogic.

Lustig is a better defender and McGregor will be more suited to defending and counter attacking than Rogic who doesn't have the legs and is too slow.

Id also play Dembele instead of Griffiths for better hold up play and ability to control high balls, he's faster than Griffiths too for running the channels or in behind.

That's the team I'd have went with near enough besides Janko. That back 4 doesn't fill me with confidence but we drew in Astana with Efe, O'Connell and Lustig as a back 3

Not often we get to play on Lee Wallace away from home in these qualifiers :50:
