I think we have to keep a compact shape in this game, and deny them space in and around our box. Lustig if he plays needs to be more aware of his far post duties, and Craig Gordon has to be more vocal, assertive and communicative with his back line, and be more aware of his near post duties.

Key will be not conceding the first half hour, do that and the game plan will have a chance of working, if not we will have to tweak it.

For the first time in a long time going into a game of this magnitude I have next to no nerves.

We will score over there and they won't score 4.

I'm still nervous but that is a given for me with all European ties.

They are going to come right out of the blocks, we can't concede early. Although we are playing well there is still an element of slackness in our game and we can't afford that in this.

If we score another 5 we can. :smiley-laughing002:

In all seriousness they were dogshit at the back, I really can't see us not scoring over there.

I am not at all nervous about this game. I am sure we will win. We have incredible firepower at our disposal.

I don't rate this team Hapoel above Astana, Malmo or Legia.

They were pish which surprises me as they won both their league and the tie against Olympiacos by being defensively sound.

Strachan pointed it out but I think they were a bit naive leaving 3 men up against us away from home. Now they will have to do it all game we probably will score, aye.

Forster and Gordon played with the same defence and in the same totally demotivated team under the same manager, so to be fair making a comparison between the two seems totally logical.

Forster played with Ambrose and Kelvin Wilson in front of him.

Gordon played with Denayer and Van Dijk in front of him.

    In short, shut it.

Throughout all their games in Europe? Ok.

    What about management? Motivation?

On sheer Goal Keeping ability Gordon doesn't enter Forsters stratosphere for me.

This is a pointless debate, Gordon needs dropped NOW and that is the only thing that matters going into our season.

The sooner De Vries comes in the better.

A pointless debate you started by making pointless comparisons.

would play 5 in midfield lying deeper so sinclair has space to run into on the counter .

Have you ever seen De Vries play? Yes Rodgers will know all about him.
How do we know De Vries is going to be better than Gordon ?
Do you think it is wise to toss him into this game just coming back from injury, that's even assuming he is fit to play. Do you think De Vries could get gel straight away with his defenders in such a big and important game ?
Do you realise what you are asking for and the gamble you want us to take, not forgetting the risk to De Vries own self confidence if it went wrong.?

This game will kick off 21.45 Israel time so will cool to 21 degrees by kick off, basically same as the home game.

Also with the stadium very similar to Tynecastle so we should know what to expect atmosphere wise.

We will get the job done no bother.

I'd take the gamble that he is better than Gordon, he can save penalties for a start and as Brendan has said is very good with the ball at his feet, something which Gordon isn't.

He got player of the year for Nottingham Forest, a rare thing in football for the GK to get POTY.

It was only a slight ankle knock which he has now recovered from and has been training with the lads for about a week now. It's not like he's an outfield player where he may have lost match fitness and stamina. He'll be fine should Brendan go with him.

For me, going by Gordon's performances recently, it's a far bigger risk to go with him again than a keeper like De Vries who will be on his toes looking to prove a point to the manager that he should be No.1 and will be fully focused and energised. In fact the more I think of it, the more I think De Vries should definitely start this match Tuesday.

I dont think it's all over yet, if they score early our arses could collapse but they did look pish in midfield, it's probably the most dominant our midfield has been in Europe in a few years so we should be able to dominate in there again.

    I'd play

    Gordon
    Lustig Toure O'Connell
    Janko Brown Bitton Tierney
    Forrest Sinclair
    Dembele

Lustig's a wee bit too dodgy at right-back now, Janko there with Lustig inside should be fine.

Dembele is good in the air and can hold a ball up so i'd play him instead of Griffiths.

I'd play Bitton too as we'll need his height to defend any set peices. Having Lustig, Bitton, O'Connell, Toure and Dembele should be good enough in the air in both boxes.
