Does his contract have the option of an additional year?

Him and Sviatchenko at the back sounds brilliant. As good as VVD and Denayer were, they were more flashy and were prone to losing concentration the odd time. Toure and Erik are just out and out defenders. No flashy *.

I heard it does. Could be wrong.

I wouldn't imagine it would be hard to get him onto another year at least, anyway!

Suppose it all depends on him. He might see this as his sort of swansong. Come up here with his old manager, win a trophy or two then call it a day.

Hope he stays for longer mind you.

I hope there's an option for an additional year, he's been great in pretty much every game he's played.

Although he doesn't play like someone in the twilight of their career, I do sort of wonder when he plans on retiring? I know some people hate when this sort of thing gets brought up, but I'd honestly wouldn't mind us offering a sort of 'retirement contract' (for the lack of a better term) and seeing if we could get him involved in the coaching side of things.

I know Tierney mentioned the influence he's had on him during training, and we see how he guides those around him during matches as well. It's maybe a bit pie in the sky, but he sounds like the sort of person who would be a good fit in a coaching role.

Honestly think without Toure in the back four tonight it may have been an absolute hammering. He held it together and is what we have lacked at the back in the last year or two when things have gotten tough.

If we didn't have him tonight we'd be out. I'm certain.

    This * guy.

What else can be said? I would happily give him a four year deal.

He was excellent. Sviatchenko will be his partner as he played well when he was on.

Thank * for Kolo. He was the guy holding our defence together tonight. Without him we'd be out.

If there's any individual player you would say "he got us to the Champions League", it's this guy.

    Thank you Kolo!
