    To be fair, we do have an awful lot of defenders missing. Erik, Jozo, Boyata, Toure - all will be involved in some shape or another this season. Just * that it's all fell apart at this moment. I would've gave Mulgrew a player/coach contract and kept him as back-up for times like this. Should've been done weeks ago, to be honest. No clue what is going on behind the scenes with that one or the weird rumours about Duffy's belaboured transfer.

    Wonder what Brendan will do. If he had my confidence in Efe, he'd not be on the plane, but he is so I guess he'll play.

    Maybe go Lustig, Efe, O'Connell at the back, with Janko and Tierney wide. Just play as defensive as possible with Brown and Bitton sitting deep in front of them.

    We've * all chance of the group stage at this rate, but y'never know. I'll settle for a negative 0-0 performance. Do what it takes to get the job done.

    Yes Erik is going to be a big miss but Astana are not known for there attacking prowess and Lustig is a good all round defender and leader. Hopfully Efe doesn't start and young O'Connell does which doesn't fill me with confidence but who ever starts hopfully we can stay strong at the back and the lads upfront get us the win.

    Well with what we have it should be a back 4, 3 is just too risky with the players we have.

    I'd be telling the full backs to just focus on keeping it tight rather than bombing up the pitch. Getting out of this away leg with a clean sheet will be a miracle.

    Only one out of five there I personally rate. Typical. I don't fancy Brown or Bitton either. Neither are capable of playing at a high level in Europe, but hopefully this mob are bad enough to not expose them.

    No proper wingers, either. Hopefully Roberts will play but he's better through the middle. Then we're left with one of the diddies supporting Griffiths who needs about five chances to score.

    Get the rosary beads out.

    I'd say none with being released..

    Might of trained with Liverpool still to keep up fitness whilst he found a club though, no sure..

    Either way, he has to play the first 45 against Barca and be thrown in next week..

    Sickener bit of news this. It's where we're weakest anyway just now, nevermind with no recognised reliable centre halves..
