Whats going on we arent even being rumoured to be signing half decent players! We need a couple of top quality signings to improve this squad they sound far far off unless we are being very very shrewed (which i doubt)! I'm starting to panic now we need this squad strenghend asap I dont buy into Rodgers need time, he has a dvd player ffs

Nah nobodys panicing well sign players but this is taking the * we need a cb at least in for the next round (when we get there not if) and even if we sign one this week hes threw straight into a CL qualifier with no game time at all. We * about far too much when it comes to these qualifiers

 

I just think it's a bit early for the "I'm getting worried guys" threads that's all. We will have some signings in the works and good ones.

Nobody is selling this early. If we get to last qualifer, Wednesday and through next tie we are guaranted Europe, = money, = players wanting to sign

I would rather wait for the right one rather than buy 10 and hope a few can cope. Lets learn from both Lenny and Ronnys mistakes, who were both in thier 1st job or biggest job for the 1st time. Rodgers knows what he wants, CL = Millions, so I am positive we will navigate each round while losing and adding the right players as we/he goes. Sadly could take maybe 3 transfer windows till he gets 'his squad'. We will have more than enough to win the league, furthering Rodgers ideas and funds. I think 2 straight CL Group stages, like we had with Lenny, Strachan and MON will give us the money needed to finally remain at a decent European side for a generation, no more of this 'good 3 years, bad few years' spell we go through.

John Flanagan, Shane Duffy, Toure would all be cracking signings. The most important thing is to fix the defense.

Forrest looks quick pre-season and i don't think he should be thrown in as a makeweight for a deal to bring in Shane Duffy. Forrest's an interesting one. With Henderson back and Roberts, that's an interesting wee group.

Ciftci also looks bubbly as well up front.

The game in Gibraltar, showed up the weaknesses. We may need a Obi Mikel type player to get that bit further than the groups.

 

I really hope this is not the attitude. We are not going to spend to help qualify but wait to see how we do to see what we spend. It's worth risking a couple of million to increase our chances of CL qualification.

I am not overly bothered that we are not linked with anyone. I prefer we buy our players based on their quality rather than HITC's opinions.

 

rodgers only had and viewed the team for couple of weeks, im sure he knows where to strengthen, i for one aint worried, and game against lincoln just a freak game id call it, and when play them can see us thumping them, specially after seen them play wolfsburg who got to qf of champions league last year, and we dominated a lot in the game, but we have enough to go throw but panicking oft glad you aint the manager *

 

I don't even think it's about saving a few million.
For example.

They'll have option A - Ronaldinho (In his prime)

Option B - Scott Allan.

Option A is obviously the better player, although only agrees to sign if we make the champions league. Option B would sign anytime and is still good but not as good.
You can only sign one and they cost the same. Do you accept the player who's not as good or take a we chance for the higher quality player if we qualify, if not we can still get option B anyway?

That's the problem facing some signings of a higher quality. It's not about getting them in early.

 

That's a very good analogy, but some need to panic anyway.

I know our season has started already and after the result in Gib I can understand why some might be a bit antsy about the lack of movement into the club compared to those leaving.

However the window doesn't close until 31st of August, granted I would agree it would have been nice to get a few more players in like we did with Dembele, however when it's a known fact that BR generally likes smaller squads it's hardly surprising to see he is taking his time in bringing new people in.

Honestly I feel we only really need a CB to pair with Big Erik,Third striker that offers something different to Dembele and Griff, holding midfielder who could phase out Brown as he moves towards coaching??? and a LB (optional) just to push KT a little more.

Even with the Holding mid there is argument to be made that it could be Ajer depending on how he comes along so we may not need to actually spend anymore money there, really it's only a decent CB we need.

 

Not sure you needed to put in brackets 'in his prime', I'd still take him over Allan now :icon_mrgreen:

But to the OP, we still have a really bloated squad, especially with some of the average midfielders we have right now. We need to ship out to free up wages and not sign players into an already big squad.

Also, we tend to be fairly quiet in our dealings these days so you won't see a lot of paper talk about us and that might seem worrying but there'll be plenty going on behind the scenes I'm sure.

 

Problem is fans actually believed the media 15 million battle fund/super war chest stories and that we would suddenly change how we go about things.
Players will come but it will be the same low cost and slow as * system we have had in place for years.

 

We need to get the right players in,not just sign anyone for the sake of it.Last few years we have been used to loads of signings,most haven't been good enough.

 

It's a process you can't expect 3 or 4 players in for the 2nd round champions league qualifiers most players are only just back from their Holliday
