We've started exactly the way we started the first half earlier.

Was wondering that myself. Strange one.

Maybe it was supposed to be Efe but leaving him off the bench was like having 8 subs. :smiley-laughing002:

Fantastic first half, poor second half. Some defensive weaknesses shown again, we will need to be solid to beat Astana.

The same issues were cropping up against Wolfsburg - there was far too much space between our midfield and defence at times.

Brown is the sort of "holding" midfielder from the 3 that started, but we all know that's not how he plays. He buzzes about and doesn't really stick to the one position. That means that if we give the ball away we can be countered on quite easily.

    Need to sort that out.

And would you agree with that consensus or not, Doctor? :smiley-laughing002:

Someone like Bitton would come in away from home though I'm sure.

We need more competition in there though. Either buy a CB letting Ajer stake a claim or buying a DM to shake up Broony and Bitton.

I think the deadline for the Astana game is tomorrow at midnight.

Yeah you're probably right. Could see Bitton, with Brown and Armstrong or McGregor playing ahead of him.

Just really want a brick wall in there, though. Bitton isn't good enough defensively for my liking.

There is very little chance that defence will get us to the groups...i just dont see it.

No chance we are buying another midfielder, that defence is our priority and Brendan knows this thank *, though i agree we do need a DM as Brown and Bitton are no where near defensive minded

    Of course I would.
My concerns before the game were predicated on the possibility of Ambrose playing, thankfully it's no longer a sacking offence :smiley-laughing002:
And I did agree with Minty the other day that we would carve them open if we got an early goal, didn't I ?

Buying a CB will release Ajer to play his natural position so a CB should be the priority.

    * last season we started games looking like amateurs and came into a game in the second half. Now we we are starting well and not turning up in the second half.

I do say, though, to start a game well is much better than to come into it. It shows intent when you start well, going straight after the jugular. It shows you are willing to go and take control of the game instead of letting events unfold and then you react.

    Eh?

Last years qualifiers especially we were flying out the traps then becoming lost in the second half.

Watching the game again, just remembered the Imps manager done his HT talk on the pitch. :smiley-laughing002:

Probably just wanted to keep savouring the atmosphere.
