France has moved to deport 20 Russian football fans, including Russian Fans' Union leader Alexander Shprygin over the violent clashes in Marseille, the union's press service said in a statement Wednesday.

Shprygin and the other supporters will be deported within five days. The decision was made by the French authorities for security reasons, as they the Russian supporters as a potential threat, the statement said.

The union will attempt to appeal the deportation, Shprygin told the R-Sport news agency.

The Fare network, which is employed by UEFA to monitor racism within stadiums, has identified Shprygin as a far-right activist responsible for introducing neo-* practices to the Russian supporters' scene, the Guardian reported Monday.

He has been photographed giving the * salute and recently said that there should be “only slavic faces on the Russian national team,” the Guardian reported.

A group of 43 Russian supporters were arrested Tuesday on their way from Marseille to Lille.

The arrests came after violent clashes involving Russian football supporters before and after the match of Russian national team with England in Marseille on June 11. At least 35 people were injured as a result of the brawls, four in serious condition.

The independent UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body handed the Russian Football Union a fine of 50,000 euros ($168,000) and placed the Russian team under suspended disqualification — accusing Russian fans with crowd disturbances, racist behavior and setting off fireworks within the Stade Velodrome.

Three Russians will stand trial for violence during the Euro tournament, Agence France Press reported Thursday. Their identities have not yet been released.

That video of the fans chanting and throwing coins to the wee foreign boys is sickening.

I see the BBC/ITV - anyone in British television is out in force to defend England and blame it all on the Russians. Knew that would happen if any other trouble started after England, they'd deflect and blame.

Fact is they have caused so much trouble and they have tried to do what the Russians have - they're just * poor at it. Now they're all playing the victim.

The amount of vitriol I have seen online from British folk is disgusting and its all based on this by-gone image/status that folk still hark back to with British imperialism.

Without doubt. It's well known that Putin uses the Russian ultras for security with demonstrations and stuff and had a fall out, but he's now back pally again..

Putin and co will have loved this. No doubt in my mind, as will a lot of the joe public, who are fed the west hates them, and that they are superior to all..

I'm no defender of the realm, but even I have to say that when it comes to being nasty, violent * the English have * all on the Russians.

The racist chanting? The * salutes? That's just a weekend at a home game for these characters.

Aye, the English are up to their usual * and deserve to be brought to task for it, but to consider them on the same level as these Russian mobs is mental.

Yep. The Russian's have been disgraceful, but it's pure * to say that England have been exemplary, which Jermaine Jenas said yesterday . They are in overdrive with a sweep sweep cover up..

Both have been a disgrace in France. That video probably tops the lot as complete scum who would do that. Go away in Europe with Celtic and do that to kid's infront of a pub full and you'd get kicked up and down the road.....yet they all stand laughing and joking :97:

I didn't say they were equal - they aren't. They can try to be as nasty/hard as the Russians - it won't work. :smiley-laughing002:

Obviously the racist chanting and violence is a typical weekend match for the Russians but the fact is why are the English/British even trying to go toe to toe with this lot? Let's not lie and say every single time the Russians have instigated it - mostly, I imagine but not all the time. The English have been going for it. What the * were they expecting?

It was actually him I had in mind when I said that - I was shocked when I heard the nonsense he was shouting.

And before anyone gets their pants in a twist, I'm saying British because the comments online aren't just English people, I've seen just as many Scottish people talk * about all of it.

The next clip was a bunch of them in full on 'lad' mode screaming "come on then!!!! Caaammmmmm onnnnnn!! * COME ON!!!!" at the polis...

    ...who duely obliged :smiley-laughing002:

The problem from what I've seen is that the English are doing what they always do, and that's old fashioned football hooliganism. I'd read that various members of various "firms" had went to France with the intention of fighting foreign "firms", which is generally the same thing they've always done.

That's not condoning it, by the way, as that shouldn't on on either.

But these Russians are a different matter, and it seems that they believe anyone is fair game, especially anyone who isn't white. A lot of French minorities getting grief, general members of other teams support (including females) getting grief and so on.

As for them going toe to toe with them, I'm not sure what you expect them to do? Just run away and let the tough racists march on through?

They're hooligans, so they're going to fight them.

I think we have the usual football hooligans on the English side of things, but the Russian element seems much more sinister. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up killing someone.

Been in Spain since the tournament started, got another week to go, been loving watching the football. Been snooping on here and bbc to see the reports about all the trouble.

Funny thing is, the hotel the best channel we can get in English is Rt news. Completely night and day reporting to what the British/west are reporting.
And that isn't just the ones trying to be the opposite of western media just to stand out.

They had the former French mep, who had some sporting title in France as well, and even he was highlighting the difference between the western world (english) reporting and that of the rest of the world.

Bbc/itv are determined to paint the English and Welsh as being completely innocent and defending themself, but they are every bit as culpable as the French locals and the Russians in regards to their violence.

The only thing I see so far that the Russians have been treated differently is the 150k fine for the in stadium antics. Otherwise UEFA and the rest of the world are seeing them both as being equally as appalling as each other.

Once I see evidence that the Russians are just fat, drunken * thinking they're hard, or evidence of the English throwing * salutes or throwing racial abuse at black players on the opposition team then I may consider them equally as appalling as each other.
