lol!talking about football.ya hardly think i'm worried about limerick losing hurlers to afl.might probably lose a few to substance abuse programmes but not to the aussies!

p.s you have to admit antrims cause in either code is hardly helped by 80% of the population being allergic to gaelic games:celt_2:

LOL i know mate, its such a shame.

did you know antrim went 18 years without winning a championship football match? i think it started the year i was born, 83, so i didn't get to see the county win a match till i was 18

i read yesterday the cork footballers are refusing to pick up their munster winners medals in a show of solidarity with the hurlers, pathetic

i know, muppets.apparently they will have them sent out instead.
they really should catch themselves on shouldn't they.if this is the extent of the footballers protest surely its because they realise the hurlers have over reached in a big way

its beyond a joke now, derry gowen has appointed a "facilitator" whatever the * that is, to solve the problem. here's a qoute from him.....

'I am pleased to confirm that I have appointed an independent chairman to facilitate a meeting between all parties involved in the current Cork hurling impasse,' Gowen enthused.

i never thought i'd see the day. cork players are disgracing the game. i think the best way to solve it is to not let them play intercounty hurling again

    agreed.
all those that have been training on their own as the "cork panel" should,at the least in my opinion ,be given a years ban.
fair play to gerald mccarthy for standing up these lads.how dare they question his status as a hurling man or refer to those called up in their place as scabs.
whats to say any of these lads would have been called up anyway?its just the height of arrogance1
you're right, these lads are a disgrace to gaelic games

its ger mc carthy i feel for the most. i'm sure he's a strong character and some of the digs he's had at the players on strike have made me laugh but its a witch hunt against him. i was surprised by some of his team selections/substitutions last year but this is not how to deal with things. he's a hurling man through and through and he's the only one coming out of this whole debacle with any dignity

the lads are the ones making money from this and they're questioning mccarthy's integrity!

so mo chairde, leaving aside the obvious that hurling was in no need of a change to the rules, what's your opinion on there effect on football?
if we are getting high scoring games in the mckenna cup, what sort of scoring averages do you think we'll be getting when the sun comes out and the pitches along with players fitness improves.
i'm all for high scoring games but with minimal contact we'll be watching teams rack up basketball scores.any thoughts?

wooo hooo! i was gonna bump this today, haven't had a chat in a while coaimhin. was out with a friend from tralee last night and we sat * about cork for hours!

i'd say pretty much the same thing, it will lead to more points and excitement but its a mans game and watching a good shoulder or tackle is as good as watching a good point for me. it would take a lot away from the game

going through withdrawal clagan without the g.a.a.if it wasn't for those muppets down in cork we'd have nothing to talk about !
i watched tyrone and monaghan yesterday and you could see the lads pulling out of tackles ,hesitating before they went in and just not getting stuck in at all.the final score was 1-17 to 0-17 on a * field with bad weather.this time last year they would have been lucky to share 1-17 between them

didn't see any football yesterday and haven't seen any intercounty football since the rules came in tbh. went to a couple of games back home and the tackles were still pretty hard. i really dont want to see the physical side of football being taken away and ending up like soccer but if it isn't working i'm sure the GAA will change it

scores are up across the board and the yellow card count has dropped from week to week since being introduced so players are adapting to a degree but as you said, with the physical side of it gone ,its not really football.
the league will tell us more but the edge is gone out of it with these rules

i just started a welding course in fas today so i'll leave the session for the weekend clagan, wouldn't be the best move to show up for induction tomorrow lashed!
they'll send a strong team up alright, the ballyhale lads aren't back yet so no shefflin to deal with but they battered dublin over the weekend 6-12 to 0-12.
plus i'm sure that they'll have it in their heads that you were the last team to beat them in a competitive game,so i can't imagine them taking it easy
