I dunno why but I'm not to excited about this as a possibility, reputation would demand a better wage then Rodgers and if he was to come in as a assistant coach/player just feel like it would be to detriment of our squad.

Just can't put my finger on it really but honestly just wouldn't want him here, much rather get a coach with good experience of being s coach to partner Rodgers and player we can invest in and build whether that be from the youths or bought in.

Keep the jobs separate please.

Can't see it happening. Said the same thing last week with BR though so you never know. Big Dermot loves this type of signing so he could be tempted.

Wouldn't want him as a player to be honest, he's leagues above Barton, but still way past his best. It'd be another Ljungberg/Keane signing.

Set a side a moment Barton looks set to sign for the huns.

He got in the championship team of the year, the last two player we signed that had excellent campaigns in that league were Hopper and Commons, and its fair to say they had an impact in this league.

And im not so sure any of our midfielders would be getting in the championship team of the year if they moved to that league next season.

Rogic and Biton would be the biggest possibility. I think they have pulled of a great signing to be fair

Honestly though, out of any of the older players who are near retirement and have spoken very highly of us in the past, I think Xavi would be the best midfield option. You don't need to have "the legs" to play the role he does really, plus it's not like he'd be totally physically past it anyway. He'd surely consider it over wasting away in the UAE or wherever he is at the moment.

 

Don't think Xavi is interested in playing for any other European club. Even tho he regards Celtic highly, more of a personal thing between him and his relationship with Barcelona.

Surely if he's linked as a player coach that would put brown in a really awkward position haha as captain if him and stevie was too have a disagreement on the park who outranks who
