There has always been a gulf in class between us and CL teams. Mind you, it didn't stop Gordon Strachan and Martin ONeill and even Neil Lennons team from getting top results. The first time we have been really embarrassed in a good while. The 6-1 game last time was a meaningless game, so that can be somewhat excused. 7-0 in the first game is pretty pretty poor

I actually think we should just play quite attacking v Barcelona. When Barça play in La Liga against middle tier opposition, they do not play against teams with 10 men behind the ball.

Keeping 2 up top would mean we can alleviate some pressure and hopefully get a goal in the process. Playing a packed defence doesn't work because they are at their best playing in tight positions.

Pretty disgusted we drew them at all, Same old *... Group of death... That we got Barca on a good night.. That we missed a penalty.. That we shipped some pretty poor goals.. That we're getting more press tonight over a drubbing than we will all season..

Pretty disgusted our new manager and young team had to deal with this at all.. Too soon..

    Couldn't have gone any worse.

    Respect to Sinclair.

This result won't reflect badly on BR.

Badly is perhaps not the word I would use but at the very least his judgement has to be questioned.

BR decided to set up our right side with an untried Gamboa whose last game was 4 weeks ago for WBA reserves, behind a very talented 19 year old who had played 30 minutes in the last 6 weeks, against Barca at the Camp Nou.

It was Brendan who decided to play in goals, a guy who distributes the ball better than CG, who is the better shot stopper.

I assume it was part of the plan that both Bitton and Broonie, at the same time, could go wandering rather than stay in front of the back 3.

When he was at Liverpool, Brendan had a great domestic record but in Europe, over 2 years, his win rate in 18 games was 33%. Not a brilliant record.

Don't get me wrong, he will be great for us and we will be great under Brendan, but at the very least some of his decision making last night was questionable.

His failure to see the need for a DM is a worry..

In fairness I think he saw it and we did make enquiries.

Something should have been done though.

Looks like the enquiries were for a Morrison type player, a playmaker rather than DM..

Brendan has been here a couple of months and has spent about 5 million on Ronny Deila's team, the same team who finished rock bottom of the EL group last season.

What the manager has done in such a short space of time is nothing short of remarkable.

We were a CL qualifying failure, a stuttering domestic outfit and EL whipping bhoys.

In a few short weeks the manager has turned us into a CL team and a domestic juggernaut.

    In Brendan we Trust!

You're right Sean. We've gone from EL whipping boys to potential CL whipping boys. Step up in class and more money in the bank.

I don't know much about Morrison but either way I think a midfielder would have improved us.

I think a McCarthy type player would have made a huge difference. People were saying after the deadline that signing a player like that still wouldn't have made us able to compete but I don't agree. Swap James McCarthy in there last night for Bitton and our midfield is immediately a lot stronger.

We still would have lost, but it mightn't have been by 7 goals.

That's true, but look how early it is under his tenure..

This isn't even a complete Brendan side yet. Next year is where we'll see improvements..

One step at a time. Brendan's already made some jumps of positivity..

I still have complete faith in him but getting thumped 7-0 is demoralising whatever way you look at it. I * hate seeing us torn to shreds like that, it shouldn't happen. I think it was pretty obvious before the deadline that central midfield was our weakest area and we did absolutely nothing to rectify it.

Only positive I'm taking is that we didn't even qualify first time around under any of our previous managers, even the ones who were extremely successful in Europe. We are bound to improve as a team over the next season or two and will hopefully become more competitive in Europe. This season is a huge learning curve for us.

I just hate seeing us get pumped and I think there'll be a couple of more in this campaign, although probably not as bad.

He's probably learned that we need another in central midfield. Playing 2 last night, effectively one, was criminal. When Broony pressed and the anonymous * done nothing, we had literally no midfield..

A Rogic should be in, no doubt. A guy that's good on the ball and can link midfield with attack..

Roberts was ok, but defensively pish and really didn't have an impact. I'd of had Rogic in, with us really narrow, and Sinclair a free role behind Dembele..

We might still have been battered, but I think it would've worked better..

I reckon this time next season the team will look a whole lot different, but i still think more should have been spent in August.

Bitton should be the first on the list to be replaced, im starting to genuinely hate the coward *

Definitely. Brendan's already said he won't buy for the sake of it. We missed out on some targets and that was that..

We'll get 1 or 2 in January. A few more deadwooders will be chopped and we'll improve vastly by what we bring in next summer also, due to how much we've made this year..

I can't stand Bitton. Genuinely thought he was a top player, and if he wants to be, he could. I'm done though, he just swans about when he wants, and foul after foul from late tackles and barges because he cannot be *..

It's disgusting. I'm 100% convinced Brendan will punt him by next summer latest..

Aye mate McCarthy would have made a difference, not sure if that was ever a starter tho..

Hopefully address the need in Jan..

Brendan will now realise, like those before him how hard it is to make that step up in level.. And as WGS said last night need to sign a couple of men to help on nights like these!

Oddly enough I don't feel so bad this morning :celt_2: A thought crossed my mind this morning that I felt the same the day we lost in Seville. I was proud we had got that far and on reflection of last nights results we still have a good team albeit a few don't show up when they should. So we got hammered by the best we wont be the last to get hammered by them and we will survive it. What makes this ok for me is that we will get better and BR has already done a good job since coming in. He's not infallible and he will make mistakes but he at least learns from them.

BRENDAN Rodgers was so impressed by Celtic The Musical that he wants to go back and see the show again. The manager and his backroom staff were in attendance at last Thursday’s performance in Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre and he has given it a glowing review.
“I loved it,” the Celtic manager said. “I have said to all my family back in Ireland, whether it’s Dublin or Derry, get yourself to it. It’s absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend it to all Celtic supporters.
“I would say about the people who work in it - they were amazing; the professionalism, the storylines and their quality and artistically how they all were was phenomenal. That’s a show that can run for a very long time.
“I would love to see it back in Glasgow as I would definitely see it again. I say to all Celtic supporters, wherever they are, to take the chance to see it as it’s absolutely amazing.”
