Yeah exactly what i've been telling Kopite mates.

I think in Ronnie Koeman and Brendan both my teams have the two brightest young managers in the 2 leagues :veryhappy:

BR: "We put pressure on ourselves because if you want to be successful you need to play with pressure.

CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers knows the difficult task that lies ahead for his side in taking points away from the Nou Camp in their UEFA Champions League group-stage opener tomorrow night, but the Irishman has belief in his team.
The Celts are set to take on Luis Enrique’s five-time European champions on their home patch, with Luis Suarez spearheading the Catalan side’s potent attack alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar – three of the top strikers in the world – but the Hoops boss says his players hold no fear ahead of tomorrow’s game.
“As a manager in every game you go into you have to believe you can get a positive result,” he said, speaking at the Nou Camp tonight (Monday). "We respect that this is arguably the best team in the world with a front three that is maybe one of the best of all-time.
“I know from working with Luis Suarez that he used to occupy a back four on his own. Put Neymar and Messi into that and it’s a very difficult task. We’re obviously in the early stages of working together but what I’ve seen in our team since I’ve worked with them is that they have a real hunger and desire to do very well in every training session and every game.
“So we respect this will be a really difficult game on the back of a really tough game with a great result at the weekend, but these are the types of games we want to be involved in.
“We have to try to come up with a plan that can get us a positive result.”
The Bhoys head into the Group C opener on the back of a 5-1 Glasgow derby win, while Barcelona slipped to a home defeat at the weekend to newly-promoted Deportivo Alaves 2-1 in La Liga.
The loss came as a surprise to Luis Enrique and his team but the Celtic manager added that such a shock result could simply serve to fire up Barca’s big stars, rather than upset their mentality before tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League clash.
“It can be positive (for Celtic) but also sometimes you can waken up a team when it has a result like that,” he said. “Alaves did very well in the game, they defended well and with the possession they had they created and scored two good goals.
“Luis Enrique made a number of changes to the team and every manager picks a team to get a result so he and the players will be disappointed, so it can be positive but it can also work the other way.
“When you work with big players, they always want to go out in the next game and have a good result and performance.”

There was an incident near the end of the match on Saturday that summed up why I love Brendan Rodgers. We were either 3-1 or 4-1 up at the time and there was a stoppage on the field. A few of our players came over to the touchline to take on fluids. A lot of managers in that situation - healthy lead, opposition down to ten men, big game in three days time - would have happily settled for what they had and just told their team to see the game out.

    Not Brendan.

You could lip read him saying to the players 'Keep pressing them!'. I * loved that!! That tells me that he really wanted to give them a skelping on Saturday, as any self respecting Celtic manager should. It was a small thing but it was so good to see.

It also highlighted the vast difference between how things are now and how they were when Ronny Deila was here. In the cup semi-final last season we made Sevco look like a good passing team. We made them look good because we stood off them and let them have the ball. None of that nonsense on Saturday. We were right on top of them, closing down their defenders and preventing them having the time to play unchallenged passes into their midfielders. Their defenders were not good enough to cope with that and their whole way of playing collapsed. We showed them up for what they are - very, very ordinary. All because we didn't stand off them like we did the last time.

I am just loving Brendan's management so far. I have a feeling this is going to turn into a special season. I'd go so far as to say the first Treble since St. Martin is on it's way.

The pressing thing was great to see. We seemed to lack off them when we were instructed to press into them. If we continued that I think we could have got more.

The thing I love about him is that he sees the problems in a game & immediately acts on them, no hanging about. Some other managers would have you pulling your hair out with their substitutions or lack of. I think I've agreed with just about every single substitution he has made since he took over & the one I didn't (Armstrong for Rogic on Saturday) showed what a good manager he is as Armstrong was excellent.

Against Barca & the Champs League as a whole he's really going to have to come up with something special to avoid a going over. We've seen him set out a team to go on the offensive with great results but when we had to defend deep against Beer sheeva we were over ran. I hope he can pull something out the bag as I don't think getting a result with a defensive mindset is really his forte.

Think we saw one of our manager's failings tonight. He'll make us a great team to watch against teams we should beat and he'll make us competitive against some teams that have been beyond us the last few seasons. But when it comes to setting up a team in a pragmatic way and making them hard to break down, he's no good at that. If Brendan stays a few years and we make the Champions League regularly, we'll take some tankings away from home with him in charge.

    Still love the guy though.

Got to be honest lads that score line is just not good enough. 7 * NIL. 7-0!!! I was expecting a hammering, I could have taken 4/5 but 7!!! Ffs!!! We'll come away from this and hopefully we'll learn from it & lets pray that's very quickly but Rodgers record in Europe has been poor at best & defensively he's always been suspect.

I said before the game he would need to show something in a defensive set-up that he had never before & he failed woefully here, let's be honest.

There was players we should have added that would have lessened this score line, we needed a top DM, a better striker & possibly another CB. There were guys on here celebrating our transfer window, well we should have built on our progress & we * up IMO.

Too open, we were marking space with 9 men across the 18 yard box and they still had loads of space. We needed to get touch tight but just let them run off players and we didn't track them.

I was watching the game on TV and I couldn't see the gaps they were creating. We were all over the place at times but only because of how quick they move the ball. Simply unavoidable when they play like that and we are at this level, which for us is a better one that it's been for a couple of seasons as well.

No doubt. We're here, and no matter what happens, we'll be better for this group experience next year, if we make it..

A couple more of the variety of Sinclair needed though. A central midfielder to replace that * Bitton is a must first off..

I hear you but it's all very well learning if you have the talent to do something about it. We are so far away from majority of CL sides, I question who with Talent is going to want to come to play at Parkhead. Up next we have the architect of the Barcelona style in Pep Guardiola. It may not be as painful but I do believe it will still be painful to watch.

Won't be judged on that result tonight. When they turn up like they did tonight then they'll thump better teams than us. What he will be judged on though is how he manages to pick the team up from tonight and in the coming games, starting up at Inverness this weekend.
