Seen a few Liverpool fans saying Rodgers was better than Klopp, and I suppose thus far he was.

The whole "he had Suarez" argument is bullshit anyway. The season before Rodgers became Liverpool manager, Suarez scored 17 goals in all competitions. In the two seasons with Rodgers, he scored 30 and 31.

Suarez loves him because Rodgers got the best out of him.

Klopp finished a place below Rodgers' worst finish in the league, with Liverpoo.

The only excuse you could give him was that the vast majority of it was not his side. Still is to be honest, I'm really surprised at their business this summer.

When Rodgers was sacked Liverpool weren't even that far off of top 4, they ended up finishing miles away.

Kinda how I feel, although I like Klopp. He's one of those guys who is 'en vogue' right now and can't do much wrong. What Rodgers achieved with Liverpool will be very tough to match though, I don't think they'll get that close again for a long time.

Klopp actually needs to have a big season. Although he got to two finals (fair enough), the season was an anti-climax and he didn't really fair all that much better than Rodgers. This despite being hailed as the hipsters messiah.

Think they'll be * this season aswell. Vindicating Brendan but no doubt nobody from Scouserland will admit it.

Klopp won't get sacked his Dortmund team took 3-4 years to assemble he's had 1 window

Most Liverpool fans I no (and myself included) have nothing but respect for the job Brendan did at the club
The 2nd placed finish put a load of pressure on him to try and match it and he never was able too
But you only have to listen to what Suarez and Gerrard say about his man-management to see what a quality manager we have at the helm right now

WHILE the rest of the football world worked itself into a frenzy on transfer deadline day, Brendan Rodgers was calmly working away at Lennoxtown, speaking to the club’s Academy coaches.
Not that the Hoops boss wasn’t focused on bringing new talent to the Scottish champions, it was simply that his plans were already in motion for the final day of the summer transfer window, and had long since been.
Being organised in advance allowed the Celtic manager to use the international week as an opportunity to take some time out to deliver his message to the club’s youth staff after a hectic start to life at Paradise.
And while deadline day passed without any additional recruits for the Bhoys, the Hoops boss said his team are in top shape after bringing in five top quality signings over the summer months before the window closed.
In exclusive extended interview with Celtic TV, the Irishman said: “I wanted to bring in another creative player into our midfield to support the players we had here but I’ll never bring in anyone just for the sake of bringing in a player. It has to be the right type of player and profile otherwise you waste time, money and energy.
“We brought in five players that can make a difference to the squad and can help it and we tried everything we could to get the right level of quality player in, but the players we wanted in just weren’t available to get and you can’t get a player if a club doesn’t want to sell him or loan him.
“But I’m more than happy with what we’ve got for now, the work we’ve done in this first window as a club has been very good and now gives us a chance to really focus on our recruitment over the course of the coming months to maybe do something in January.
“But they players I have here – I’m delighted with their attitude and energy and they’re only going to improve now as we progress over the next few months.”
Celtic headed into the international break on a high by going top of the league with the 4-1 win over Aberdeen after also securing Champions League football.
A week away from Lennoxtown will allow many of the first-team stars a well-earned break, while simultaneously offering some of the squad’s fringe players a chance to train before the team reconvene in just under a week’s time to prepare for the upcoming Glasgow derby at Paradise and the start of the Champions League campaign.
Having his players away from the club ahead of such big games hasn’t been ideal, the manager admitted, but he added that it was important for the players to take a break.
“Whenever you’re in the flow of games we’ve been in it has come at a good time,” he said. “Opposite to that, the players are away and we don’t get them back until Thursday but for us it’s probably come at a good time, with all the games we had.
“It’s a chance to recover and reflect and then September is a real exciting month for us and we can prepare for that.
“We’ve had a good start but we have to keep this momentum going, keep the supporters happy and help them in good spirits. We can only do that by winning games.”

Brendan had one excellent year at Liverpool and one terrible year. Overall I don't think he did badly and Klopp hasn't fared any better with basically the same squad.

Rodgers' transfers were the one big question mark against him at Anfield and tbf most of that can be attributed to the "transfer committee" debacle.

So far at Celtic he's undoubtedly been calling the shots and has a 100% success rate with signings - Kolo, Sinclair and Dembele all undoubted good buys and too early to judge De Vries & Gamboa, who both should come good.

He took them to within grasp of the title, and that slip from Gerrard and more importantly the game after where they lost a big goal advantage against Palace think it was cannot really be attributed as a failure from Rodgers. It would also be hard for any manager to come back from that especially with a club like Liverpool who are desperate for a title.

Just hope we can keep him up here and he isn't tempted from offers down south with a huge budget.

Listening to him, he has a plan and I think he'll stay to implement it. He seems to want to make the club's philosophy uniform from youth level to first team. I think after he has done that, he will move on. We should appreciate him while he is here and stick with him when things begin to take a downturn.

Wanted a creative midfielder, couldn't get one and wasn't willing to buy for the sake of it.

There will be a few idiots wanting the ground to swallow them up about now, namely those that said he 'wouldn't stand for this *' because no one was signed on deadline day :52:

Bottom line is it was better to sign no CM than getting someone he wasn't sure of, I think.
