I think Wanyama1967 is one of the few who knows their stuff on football and I enjoy reading his detailed posts.

It's sad he gets a hard time on here just because he has different opinions. :54:
I commend for keeping his cool.

I do respect people's opinions, but when it is constantly shoved down your throat every day, every thread. It starts to grate a little ...

'Brendan Rodgers has explained why he sent out a note to Celtic captain Scott Brown during the Champions League play-off against Hapoel Beer-Sheva. A place in the group stage was in serious danger of slipping through Celtic’s fingers in Israel when they trailed 2-0 just three minutes into the second half and were rocking badly. A couple of tactical changes by Rodgers eventually steadied the ship, including the introduction of Erik Sviatchenko in a switch to a back five for the closing stages. The Danish defender also passed a note from Rodgers to Brown.

“It said: ‘Any danger?’,” joked Rodgers when asked what instructions he had relayed to Brown. “Seriously, it was just to make sure they understood the shape we were changing to. If you leave the message with a player, sometimes it doesn’t get on quick enough. “Scott’s a great communicator, so Erik gave it to him and he could see the shape of the team and what personnel had to go to what positions and what we were trying to achieve. “Rip it up quickly and go. I’ve done it in the past. It’s not a book! You have to be short, sharp and concise with your information. “Listen, the quality of your life is down to the quality of your communication skills. However you get it on there, however it is written, whether it is verbal, you need to get the message on there.

“I thought we then found a calmness. The issue was that they were throwing caution to the wind and bombing everyone forward. “The problem was on the sides. Initially, they had a diamond in the first-half, but the tempo was up for them and we could contain that, so we switched from 4-3-3 to a diamond at the beginning of the half. “But they were still getting down the sides, so it was a case then of trying to block them. Stick an extra defender on meaning Kieran Tierney and Saidy Janko could engage their full-backs higher up the pitch. Then we started to deal with things.”

It didn't even look like a diamond in my opinion. It was almost as if Sinclair was still playing on the left, with Rogic behind Griffiths. There was no shape to it whatsoever.

The team said we will be catting with Brendan Rodgers soon regarding the draw. That was about 15 mins after the draw was made.

THE return of the UEFA Champions League glamour games to Paradise is a just reward for Celtic, according to Brendan Rodgers.
Unlike their Group C opponents, Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach, the Hoops have had to go through six qualifying matches en route to the group stages, with those crucial games falling right in the middle of pre-season as the Bhoys started life under their new manager.
The failure to reach the group stages in the past two seasons underlined the difficult challenge the Scottish champions face in trying to qualify, and the Celts boss said this year’s success is deserved on the back of the hard work his players have put in over the summer months.
“It’s some really exciting games for us,” he said. “It’s glamorous games back at Celtic Park and it’s great for everyone. For the supporters I’m sure they’re really excited about the three teams we’ve been drawn against.
"They’re brilliant football teams and it’ll be great going to Spain and Germany and down to Manchester, so we’re really looking forward to them.
“I’m looking forward to the coaching experiences and I’m sure the players are looking forward to playing against really good players because in these types of games you become a better footballer playing against this level of player and you always learn something from the game.
“It’s why we worked hard all over the course of pre-season, waiting for the draw yesterday, so it has been great.”
Celtic were drawn from pot four in the competition due to their UEFA coefficient ranking but the Hoops boss said his side are not simply there to make up the numbers. Instead, he sees the competition as a chance to help his players develop, challenge at the highest level and hopefully be as competitive as possible.
He added: “There’s no doubt we’ve earned the right to be in the competition. We’ve played six qualifying games over the course of pre-season whilst you’re getting fit, so we have earned the right to be there, but I think everyone recognises it’s an extremely tough group.
“We’ve maybe got the top teams, arguably, from each of the different pots all in one group but, our aim, like always, is to have a go and for us the games can’t come quick enough and we’ll look to be super-competitive in them.
“We’re just thinking about doing the very best we can. It’s a great milestone for us that we’ve been able to qualify. It has been a difficult couple of years in terms of qualification but we have worked extremely hard over the course of pre-season, got into it, and now we will just think of doing the best we can and we’ll see where it takes us.”

THE history, success and size of Celtic gives the club its own special allure for any prospective signing, but getting to the UEFA Champions League group stages makes coming to the Scottish champions even more appealing, according to Brendan Rodgers.
The Hoops have already been able to attract top talent to Paradise this summer, with the likes of Moussa Dembele, Kolo Toure and Scott Sinclair all signing from the top tiers of English football alongside experienced goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, but the Celtic manager admitted that the prospect of facing of Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach in Europe’s elite club competition this season makes coming to the Hoops even more attractive.
“Celtic as a football club is a huge attraction whether it’s in the Champions League or not,” he said. “The scale of the club and expectancy here means the club will always attract players but when you have the games we have and to play in front of our supporters it is a huge attraction.
“Being in the Champions League will make some players sit up and take notice and that gives you the opportunity to bring that calibre of player in.
“It allows us, hopefully, to add to our squad before the window shuts. That was always going to be the case, but once qualification is done it opens up some more funds in order to do that, which is great because the club are trying to develop now and this Champions League qualification helps that hugely.
“It was quoted as the richest game in history of the club (against Hapoel Be’er Sheva) so it shows you the impact it can have but we want to bring in the right profile of players that can help us, not just now but in the next few years.
“The building job we’re trying to do here isn’t just for the short-term, it’s for the longer term, so if we can get the right one or two players in that’s something we’ll look to do. We have a few ideas of players we want but there's nothing imminent at this time.”
