Just hope to * the 2 he is talking about are a keeper and the metronomic pivot centre mid he always goes on about in interviews.

Think we could do with another forward also, Cifci is the only back up we have.

After that it's genuine youth players.

Not sure 3 first team strikers is enough for a full season ahead when we are playing 2 upfront most matches?

Love the praise but warning for players like Rogic and Forrest. Your attacking is all very well but you must keep up the intensity, get in players faces and defend from the front.

Both players will benefit hugely from that approach.

I'd get shot of Ciftci regardless of who else we bring in personally.

Sinclair and Christie can both play there domestically no bother at all and are far better options than Ciftci IMO.

My thought as well. He likes to play 3 at the back and needs a GK who can read the game and be solid when the opposition catch us on the break, as they will when we press high up the park. As for CM, I'm thinking of a Joe Allen type - fast, can spray passes as well as attacking teams with the ball.

Definitely feel a striker is required as well. If Griffiths gets injured we are extremely short up front.

    Not really.

He didn't play tonight and we scored 5. Dembele actually looks like he suits playing as the lone striker more than he does in a front 2.

Plus Sinclair can play as a striker as well if it comes to it.

Definitely one more striker needed if we're going to have a proper crack at Europe this season.

At worst, we're going to be in the group stages of the EL anyway.

If for some nightmarish reason we were to get put out in the CL play off round, why not just try and get to the quarters or semis of the Europa? Or beyond?

    GK and DM..

Maybe Gordon's drop in form is in direct correlation with him realising he's not part of Brendan's long term plans..

BRENDAN Rodgers was particularly pleased by Celtic’s tempo and intensity after they ran riot against Motherwell to book their place in the Betfred League Cup quarter-finals.
Deadly doubles from Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele coupled with another goal for new Bhoy Scott Sinclair did the damage for the Hoops in Paradise.
But the margin of defeat could have been greater for the Steelman had goalkeeper Craig Samson not made a string of superb saves.
Speaking after the game, the manager said: “I thought we were very good this evening. Our intensity and the speed in our game were excellent.
“It was always going to be a difficult game, especially early on. Motherwell set-up to try and block spaces, and that is what we expected, but we worked the ball really well side to side and looked to penetrate centrally.
“We got five goals and our intensity in the game could have got us more. I’m very pleased to have qualified for the next round and that was the idea going into the game.
He continued: “Game on game we are getting better and you saw the introduction of the type of players I’m looking to bring here.
“Scotty Sinclair added a totally different dimension to the team. He can break lines, he runs without the ball and that encourages others to run without the ball and all of a sudden the dynamic of the team totally changes.
“Importantly for us, particularly in the second half, we were aggressive in our pressing in the game. That counter-pressing was very important. When we lost the ball, we were very quickly able to regain the ball back. If you can do that high up the pitch, you get more chances to score goals.
“As the game went on, we had a pleasing moment in the 88th minute when we still had the players running, pressing and being aggressive.”
Sinclair may have picked up the stadium Man-of-the-Match award after dazzling home debut for the Scottish champions but there were a number of impressive performers for the home side, notably James Forrest and Rogic, both of whom celebrated signing new contracts with the club with outstanding contributions.
Along with his two goals, Rogic was a constant thorn in the Motherwell backline, through his skill, craft and vision.
And although Forrest never found the net, he terrorised the visitors with his pace, direct running and service into the box.
The Hoops boss said: “They are wonderful footballers but in order to play in this team and this way you need to press the game and you have to be able to work in the framework of the team.
“You looked at the level of both players this evening - James with his pressing in order to get the ball and then his quality with the ball, his movement without the ball, while Tom Rogic is a wonderful footballer.
“You forget he’s an Australian international. He’s had a lot of injuries and I really hope and pray that this season he can stay fit, physically, as when he does you can see his quality and finishes and his ability to link with good players. He was a great connection between our front three and midfield. Both those boys were excellent.”
Celtic will now host Alloa in the last eight of the competition after the teams were paired together in tonight’s draw. And Brendan Rodgers was content to have home advantage in the next round.
He said; “The first idea was to qualify and then when the draw was made if we could get a home draw no matter who it was against. We love to play here. We have been here for a few games and I sense the players are excited about being here. I certainly am, and you can see that in the team in how they are playing. We will respect Alloa like would any other team.”
Despite the stylish nature of Celtic’s performance that sealed their progress in the cup, the manager insisted that the Hoops were far from the finished article.
He added: “We still have a way to go. We can still be better at times and I said that to the players afterwards.
“What is very pleasing is they are playing in big games yet they went into last Sunday’s game, (Hearts) a big game, and showed that resilience.
“Tonight was a wonderful football demonstration but there was also a real aggression in our game in terms of our intensity to win the ball.
“We won’t get carried away. It’s still very early and If I can get one or two in before the window shuts I will be extremely happy and that will set us up for the rest of the season”.

If we qualify for the CL and Celtic are clever with the pricing for the Alloa game we could end up with 40,000 on an absolute high.

He must be talking about a central midfielder.

Think the other is either a goalkeeper or right back

Obviously he wants 2 more but I think if we qualify for the CL we might see another brought in during the last week of the window to take it up to 3. Another £4m or so player.
