My guess is 2 wingers, a CM and another striker.

I'm hoping for a goalkeeper, striker, winger/inside-forward type, and a CDM.

Aye I was thinking a left winger and a creative midfielder.

A few folk are wanting a new keeper but I still rate Gordon and don't think he's so error prone to make it a priority.

Two wingers? Both left and right? I wonder who is going to replace Roberts if this injury keeps him out for a few weeks.

Striker makes sense as I don't think Ciftci is going to make it.

Going to be a busy 3 weeks if we're signing 4 players and letting go of a good few.

Brendan Rodgers: Celtic fans 'put players on edge' against Astana

Manager Brendan Rodgers says the Celtic fans "put the players on edge" during the Champions League win over Astana.

Moussa Dembele's injury-time penalty sealed a 2-1 win on the night for the Scottish champions and a 3-2 aggregate victory over the Kazakh side.

That put them into Friday's play-off round draw - one tie away from the group stages - after a nervy evening.

"The fans were unbelievable for us, but I think they need to show a little bit of patience as well," Rodgers said.

"I'm a Celtic supporter. I know what they want, I know how desperate they want it. But instead of having that edginess, trust the players and how we work and eventually we can get there."

Celtic will face one of Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria), Copenhagen (Denmark), Hapoel Be'er Sheva (Israel) or Dundalk (Republic of Ireland) with a place among Europe's elite at stake.

Should they lose that tie, they are guaranteed a place in the group stage of the Europa League.

Rodgers says he has no preference, but hopes to have the second leg at home again after overcoming Lincoln Red Imps and Astana after travelling for the first leg.

"That's a real benefit for us," he said. "We'll just take whoever comes in the next game.

"It's the final step [before the group stage]. There was always going to be three tough rounds."

Dembele's goal was his first for Celtic since signing from Fulham.

It came after the 20-year-old's driving run earned a spot-kick and led to the dismissal of both Igor Shitov, for making the foul, and Dmitri Shomko for protesting.

Earlier, Leigh Griffiths netted another penalty in first-half stoppage time, only for Agim Ibraimi to level the tie on aggregate midway through the second half.

"Both penalty takers showed wonderful composure in a pressure game," Rodgers said. "But Moussa especially for a boy who has just turned 20.

"He has been playing catch-up in his fitness, but he's got quality and that's why he was coveted by so many teams."

I think he has a point here, sometimes the crowd can be too moany instead of being supportive like when a pass is missed placed etc.

You have to remember that passes are much easier to spot up in the stands or on the telly than at pitch level. Also good players are thinking 2 or 3 passes ahead. A forward pass might look on but if they see that it'll lead to us losing the ball in a couple of passes, they'll opt to keep possession.

He will get the best out of guys like Broony, Janko, O Connell Tierney but needs support from the Board, he is not a miracle worker...

    Absolutely agree with this 100%.

That being said, I don't think the board are stupid enough not to back him (as would have been stipulated BY RODGERS during his contractual discussions to come to the club).

There will be signings this week, as I'm sure that we have probably had a few rejections by clubs and/or player(s) by now.

That press conference was a bit of a farce.

Was painful watching him struggling with the heat. Was desperate for him to take his jacket off and someone to give him a bottle of water (which eventually they did).

I can't believe that Rodgers took this job without some promise of decent funds. I just can't think know what's going on? Would he put up with the board * about? Does he just want to wait until we (touch wood) quality for champions league and that way he can attract better players with the money he has?

Board have to have promised him something.

I still cant beleive we have him, I've not been as confident in a manager in I dont know how long, really exciting time for the club.

What are you talking about? We've signed Kolo Toure and Moussa Dembele. Two excellent signings and two pie in the sky signings had Brendan not been here. You also must be well aware that we are trying our best to get Scott Sinclair in for a fee in the region of £3-4m.

We are backing him. It would be silly to start flinging money around like there's no tomorrow.

With Scott Sinclair reportedly having a medical we now have Brendan Rodgers, Patrick Roberts, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele.

What the * is going on here? :smiley-laughing002:

    A revolution!

If Sinclair gets done before the weekend, as per Rodgers' wishes, we're in pretty good shape. We still need to cut a few squad players and add a quality midfield player.

But we can't expect him to transform the squad in one window.

If we sign Sinclair then I think all we need is a really good box to box midfielder with a bit of experience.
