As most of us on here stated last year that this current squad has to be up there as one of the worse in our clubs history. Tonight has shown that to be true. Any TOP manager would struggle to get this current crop to play. Surely now Fudgie has to move a few on

Good group of players my * *......half of them are * useless...cant cross a ball into the box...cant defend....and tonight coudnt score past a team of plumbers and joiners.....there is no excuse what so ever.
Every single year we get the same *....oh the pitch...oh match fitness....oh just need to sharpen up.......why the * has no one done anything about these factors when its the same every season for the most important games of the year.....20 million at stake and we still cant get ready for these games.....* me off no end.

Rodgers NOT AMUSED, but keeping calm!!

Not * amused, and I KNOW he never held back

Looking back, having just listened to Rodgers after-match press conference here:
    Sportsound 12 Jul 16

Rodgers was VERY calm before the game and after the game, that is all he could do. He said it could end an easy win next week, we are not out. Rodgers said "We got a bit of work to do, but we will get through this next week, then look at the next round" Rodgers is showing class and character by calming EVERYTHING right down. Rodgers DID boot thier holes after the game, but GREAT MANAGERS DON'T PANIC. Rodgers knows this is bad, but if we win 5-0 next week, last nights score fades away.

Hard night troops, but lets talk about it after next Wednesdays game.
I trust and believe our manager will get us through this with ease in the end. Ronny/PL/Board handed Rodgers a complete mess, Rodgers knew when we met him with 13,000 fans the job he had to do, the mess, he WANTS TO FIX, was already there. He never told lies, got things done as he was handed this mess.
But right now we need CALM..Last season we now know, Ronny said it "We were just happy to win at the end of games, it was more relief" So these players are scared, but I think Rodgers can dispose of the crap players and get the confidence back. It is very early for Rodgers, he is learning on his feet by the day! Last night showed him he MUST do hard things now, long term thinking (Example?) Brown etc gone, they are just scared or something, whatever happened between Lenny going and Ronny going must have been more severe than rumors suggest. Rodgers won't * around between now and next Wednesday. We WILL get through the tie, but Rodgers 100% knew the 'Honeymoon Period' would end, or could have ended like this. He knew the mountains he had to climb over and an 'Alleged' squad so divided certain players left/were sold or were not taken on tour, injured or not, the rumours, who was missing..(Example) Why Mulgrew not at least training @ 80% to not get possible injury obviously, but not keep himself with the squad should he signs contract and would have been almost as fit as the rest? Why did this not happen? Is this dressingroom still split? If it is, Brendan is keeping the fans calm till he can fix it for us...Sadly that will take time

This is the worst squad in our history bar none, i doubt even Rogers can turn this shower of * into anything, the club needs major surgery starting with Desmond and Lawwell nothing will change with these 2 leeches in control

Said it plenty times on here last season, this current Celtic team just simply isn't good enough. Ronny Deila might well have been out of his depth, which I think he was if I'm being honest, however, he wasn't the biggest problem, this group of players were. We now have a quality manager in charge in Rodgers, and the same failures are there for all to see from last season. This team needs gutted.

One thing that does lie at the door of Rodgers last night though, was his decision to play Ambrose. When is the manager in charge of us going to finally suss this guy out, and say enough is enough. He is a comedy show, and any team we come up against play on him if he starts, because they know they will get a mistake from him.

Last night should be a big learning curve for Rodgers even at this very early stage, that the majority of this current Celtic team cannot be trusted. We need a complete overhaul in my opinion, and I thought as much last season.

this is the same squad that got to last 32 in the Europa, cant be that * bad, folk are consistently being played in positions and systems that don't suit them

im not saying its a great squad but theres more talent in there than people are making out.

deilas first season bar his first few qualifying games were largely a success and people were singing its praises.

No it's not. This is the same squad that got embarrassed in the Europa League last season, failing to win a group game.

I think Rodgers is the man for the job, but he will have learned a lot about the squad he has inherited after last night, lets hope he is backed by the board in the transfer market accordingly.

He wants this to be the quickest week ever. There will be a black cloud over him until next Wednesday.

    Says Regi Blinker :56:

He has a lot more to sort out than dropping Ambrose. A LOT more.

Agreed. We need a complete cull and quality brought in to replace them, that can instantly go into the starting XI. No more projects, prospects or loanees.

Brian Clough advice to new managers on entering the dressing room was - "Remember these players are the reason the last guy got sacked"

It would be interesting to hear your take on it Paul.
What do we have to do ? Considering the time restraints and upcoming challenges.

    Fantastic quote and so true
I don't think diela should take on the majority of the blame. The players were not playing for Aberdeen, Rangers, Europe it was pedestrian at times. No one to take the game by the scruff of the neck and I feel that is normally Scott Browns role

This year was a free hit for Rodgers in terms of CL Qualification but if were struggling to beat a team from Gibraltar we've got zero chance of beating anyone else who is decent.

I'm a bit alarmed by his post-match comments tbh saying it's not an embarrassment and then blaming the pitch and the heat

Your always told not to hang your players out too dry in public as a manger but the players and Brendan were too blame for last night nothing else.
