:50: like the look of that team! I think that Commons still has it and was only left out by deila for some strange personal reason/conflict. He have been around for the big games before and would be a vital part for the CL qualifiers.

I agree mate, I'd rather he was in the middle or there was space for Rogic but with the team we've got just now I can't see him going for a player in the number 10 position.

He's talkingi about bringing in one or two players, I think that sounds about right for the first window. I'd rather see him taking his time to assess the squad and evaluate our needs then take a scattershot approach.

Only sour note so far is him saying to Celtic TV that he had a motivated and very professional group of players.
Sure Ronny Deila would beg to differ!

    * disgrace the way some of those players have behaved over the last 12 months.

The fact he's talking about trimming the squad is a huge positive. It was a problem under Deila, which he acknowledged, but it should never have been allowed to get to that stage. But it's not a bad position to be in.

Strength in depth won't be an issue, but we need to work towards having a stronger first XI. We probably need to cut 7-8 squad players and add 2-3 first-team players.

Blame goes both ways though, I still think Ronny's biggest failing was letting the squad get bloated. It's not good for morale and Rodgers will have to make some choices about our midfield in particular.

If he trims the squad and brings in 2 or 3 names that we would recognise I'd be delighted. I think it would be a great start.

Maybe one other big signing if CL money is secured.

After that he can assess everything until January where he might want to dip into the market again. I don't think there is a need to bloat the squad with loads of signings straight away. Just the right ones in the right areas.

“There’s no egos. They are straight guys who want to learn and develop. We’ll give them the structures and perameters."

Think that's an interesting, and, as it looks to me, spot on point, perhaps with the exception of 'the clique' if all that's true.

Seen some quotes from Brendan on Christie which he'll be encouraged by....

“We’ve got some kids here who have impressed me, like young [Ryan] Christie. He’s a good mover and looks like he can score goals,” said Rodgers. “When he gets a bit stronger he can do very well."

There's a few before on here that's said he's still a bit light-weight so it's clear Brendan can see that too. Sounds like he may be in the plans this season as well which is great as I was thinking guys like Christie may get loaned uot due to the squad size just need to wait and see.

To be fair I think the main egos have either left the club or stayed in Scotland. Brendan seems pretty in sync with the fans so far as well which I like, everybody so far seems to be on a similar page, unlike the past two seasons.

Very pleased with the work the club has done so far this Summer.

I'd like to see another central defender coming in, with Boyata and Ambrose heading out. We seem to have been getting linked with a few, so it would suggest at least one player in that position is on the way out.

I'd also like to see a few more wide players coming in. I'd say that's the weakest area in the team at the minute.

I'd not make any changes to the central midfield area, unless there are players leaving.

If there is money to spend, let's spend it on quality, not quantity.

I would say we definitely need more quality in central midfield. I don't think it's fair to make Rodgers work with the midfield currently at the club just because we have so many.

Brown, Bitton, Johansen, Armstrong, Rogic, McGregor, Henderson and Ajer is a decent pool to pick from.

I agree that we can push for better, but it's certainly the last area that needs addressing.

I really don't agree. The 'pool' is decent in the sense you would expect all of those players to at least come in and do a shift in the SPFL during a 50+ games season, but in terms of your starting CMs for Europe, I don't think we have the quality and it's a problem.

I think Rodgers will get Bitton playing at his best, and when he does he's obviously a quality player. Unless Ajer is something special, I don't see who else comes in and plays CM for Celtic, dominating the big games.

Johansen, Armstrong, McGregor I would say are inconsistent and limited to the SPFL. Henderson's probably not ready yet. Brown is constantly injured and I would say his technique isn't good enough for Europe anymore.

Rogic has quality but I don't know if he can do it over 90 minutes in a long season. He seems more like an impact player in Europe.

If I was Rodgers and considering just how important the CM positions are, he's got to be going out and buying a quality player to come into that team.
