Thought of this quite a bit like every Celtic fan I'd imagine. Always thought it'd be a good move. More money, more competition, more attractiveness. Right now however, I wouldn't really know. I enjoy our league and as things our looking (still not convinced:fear:) the board is actually pushing the boat out. Bright times may lie ahead of us in Scottish football by the looks of it and I would much rather make Scottish football more attractive than joining the English. If it's possible and a one time opportunity this should definitely be heavily considered though.
Maybe even have a fan referendum :icon_mrgreen:

Yip. The Board would jump at it.

We'd not lose a single penny starting on the bottom rung.

It'll never happen, and the more I think about it the less I want it to happen.

There has to something done up here to improve the Scottish game, though. Right now it's stale as * and seriously lacking in talent.

I Know it is not competitive, but it is where we belong and always have been playing, and i love it. Revamp or do somerhing to improve the league in the country where we should be playing instead of moving our club to a country that also is on the downfall, and where we absolutely dont belong.

I don't think i would feel the same emotional attachemt to the club if we joined the English league, if it became a british isles league system then would mabye be a bit different.

as great as it would be, their would be a certain hollowness if we managed to win the champions league or something through the english league system, the romance would be gone for me personally

We wouldn't lose money starting in the bottom rung so I would be up for it. I do think we should be trying to make scottish football better though.

If Celtic started in League 3 (5th tier), they'd lose money from...

    - no European football and the money that brings
    - possibly less TV money for domestic games
    - less interest from Celtic fans in Celtic vs Accrington than Celtic vs Aberdeen

Its only once they got to the English Championship would they start making decent money.

Celtic would also whilst rising through the leagues have to have a reduction in player quality when in the 5th, 4th and 3rd tiers. International players won't hang around when Celtic are at those levels.

    What are you laughing at?

You may consider them a wee club, but they have superb infrastructure at stadium & training ground, one of the best academies in the UK and a better squad than Celtic. How many current Celtic players would make the Southampton best XI?

No been funny but Sevco starting from the bottom in Scotland seemed to work ok. Don't see why we can't do this. Incidentally not many in England want either Celtic or Rangers. They know that both clubs are massive and will eventually cash in on there cash cows which they always have been afraid of.

I would have far more interest in a match chasing promotion against Accrington than a stinky run of the mill game vs Aberdeen.

    * that. We're a Scottish club. Besides it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if over the 5+ years it takes to get to the premiership the money buble bursts down there, it certainly can't be sustainable at its current rates.

You have no one to thank for that fact other than a television deal. It's not like you made the money through merchandise sales or season tickets.

Christ even Bournemouth now spend £10m on players now they are in that league. It's got nothing to do with anything other than that.

Its not just about the money for me. This is about the standard of football and player we could see at Celtic park. I would also like to see us competing for European trophies again were we belong. Anyone against a move to England is nuts imo

I would quite like Celtic to move to an English/UK league eventually. I can't see it happening but the opportunity to get into the Premier league at some point is an exciting thought. There was a time when Scottish teams played in English competition way back in the day and I would like that to happen again.
