We're in free fall because Lenny left and the manager who followed him couldn't cope. If you think Neil Lennon's Celtic would be incapable of beating a Malmo or Maribor I think you're * deluded tbh.

I not not sure the exact amount but circa £22million in talent in VVD and Forster alone. Add to that Scott Brown, Johansen as he was then, Griffiths, Bitton, Kayal, Commons and Rogic who had been injured for much of Neils time.

So you're bitter a Celtic legend who was with us for 15 years didn't stay longer for our board to take the * out of him? Fair enough mate.

    That's * daft to me.

We're going to be looking at a shortlist of 0 candidates if one of our criteria is that they wouldn't move to england if given the chance, particualrly after 4 years in the job and numerous off the field incidents targetting them.

I didn't say it would be incapable. But do you know what? Lennon isn't the only manager who can get us to the CL, there's plenty of other options out there.

Forgetting that in the 2012/13 season we finished with 79 points? The lowest league winning points total in * knows how long - and that was with no huns and an Aberdeen team that aren't as good as they are now. Still, we lost 7 games and drew 7. This season we have 76 points, with 5 games still to play - and this is considered as a shambles of a season.

What about Lennon's record at Hampden? Not very convincing either.

He's a better manager than Ronny but if Lennon is the height of our ambitions then not just myself, but I'd bet an overwhelming majority of Celtic fans would be majorly disappointed.

It's * daft that you think we are desperate for him when he will be working under those very conditions that would cause him to leave all of a sudden.
Face it if your boss said to you every day you will eat a piece with my * in it which caused you to leave, would you then come across as not desperate if you rang him up and said - about that * sandwich....?

    What? :smiley-laughing002:

Get him back to Celtic. Defo. Celtic man and a good Manager. Can motivate and develope our team. Huns will be raging which is worth his return alone.

And also a season we reached the last 16 of the Champions League. I * loved Lenny's time here and think he's exactly what we need.

Nah, I don't think that's the way the conversation would go, whatsoever. It'll be more like we've went to * without you, what do you need for us to hit those heights that you brought us to again?

People seem to think we're not in the absolute * just now, it's very weird.

Nearly every player we sign will have an eye on a move to England. I suspect Vic and VVD among others who may not have been successful signed for us as a stepping stone. Johansen, Erik etc. would be off tomorrow given half a chance. Strange how some of the above players don't get any of the disdain reserved for Neil Lennon.

Not the kind who was whoring it around England when he told us to * off? And is now doing the same again when he has a sniff of his old job back?

It's like in England when it's the same * manager like Allerdyce and Warnock swapping * clubs every 6 months coz they get sacked - they * themselves about looking for anything.
He'd be saying he wants the Villa job if He thought he was in with a chance of it.

You were having a go at him for looking for a position in England. Everyone we employ in a managerial capacity, or sign on the playing side, will do the same if they feel like they can find something there.

I would say you're correct there and that reality could work against him and us fans.

seems likeliest he left because he either
    1. Could not or did not want to work around boards purse strings and low aims for Celtic.
    2. He wanted out of Glasgow for personal reasons.

If it was number 1, he will be compromised more now in negotiations for budget, as Lawell and Desmond are aware of Lennon's current appeal.

I would not be unhappy with NL provided Johan or Alan Thompson came along, less a question of Lennon being able, than someone who can be trusted to manage and where necessary dictate to Lawell and Desmond, a pair who have shown no obvious or purposeful ambition for Celtic these past 2 seasons.

I'd rather have a manager who can be competent in Europe and pretty consistent in the league. Losing 7 league games with zero games against the huns is * shocking. Never mind adding 7 draws on to that.

Plus, the team we had back then puts the current team to shame.

    You are deluded.
Lennon keft for very good reasons,he was told what the next season had in store for him and he rightfully told our board to go * themself.

If you think that had lennon stayed on the same * wouldnt have went on behind the scenes then you are deluded.

The guy had an assistant hand picked for him, he was told there was no money, he was told players were gonna be sold. He told us he took the clubaas far as he could under those circumstances. So yeah, aside from personal likes and dislikes of lennon and deila, the same * would probably have happened.

Lennon would have went in to the next season with the same players and same opponents as deila did.

Lennon is gone, get over it. We need to move forward. We had to move on from lennon even then, we needed better (no blight on him) to take us forward, we got worse.
We cant just resort back to type. We still need better than lennon.

And anyone who suggests moyes and rodgers are unattainable are having a laugh, they are very attainable if we put a suitable offer on the table. Its the same with players, we can do better but our board are cheap as *.

    Lennon is settling.

Yup, so what did he do? Made sure he * fixed that issue. How many points did we get the following year? How many goals? Losses? Draws?

That's the point I'm trying to make. Neil Lennon isn't the first Celtic manager/player to look towards england for a move, and he won't be the last. After 15 years of service, facing up to vile abuse, and dragging us out of the depths of the Mowbray fiasco, he certainly left with nothing but my best wishes.

It's a silly comparison to make regarding whether or not I would have taken back Jock Stein or Larsson. Do you put Lennon in the same bracket as Stein management wise? Or is Lennon's managerial skills on a par with Larsson's playing ability?

Management wise I put him as the very best option we are capable of getting just now, along with Moyes.

Do we need to go through this every time people differ in opinion? Read the rest of the post i say what he was told.
He was told players were to be sold, told no money, told who his assistant was going to be. He was told to shut up and put up.
