No chance. Peter Lawwell needing to go back with his tail between his legs? Admit that he got it wrong?

Peter Lawwell doing that, really? He'll be back in a heartbeat if the terms are right. Like he wouldn't have left if they were.

I agree. It was clear that he knows where to draw the line if he feels he is being 'mistreated'.

I was genuinely gutted when he left the first time and I think he could've/will become a bigger legend here as a manager than when he was a player.

Lennon represents a safe pair of hands, I have no doubt we would improve considerably underLlennon in domestic terms. Would prefer Moyes but Lenny would be my fall back. however lots of people have said, I think the board owe to the fans to pursue the big name boss with everything they've got.

I'd say it's more a case of Lennon coming back with his tail between his legs.

Took a duff job down south because nobody else wanted him. Ended up getting sacked and now he's saying he'd like the job here 5 minutes after Deila is confirmed to be going at the end of the season.

Would anyone take Alex Neil if Norwich bumped him?

    Paul Lambert?

As I said don't mix up my love of Neil Lennon with my opinion on him as a Manager, particularly now.

I thought it was time for him to go when he went and I don't think it's his time for return now either until he's achieved something elsewhere other than relegating a Club to League 1.

Really? Lenny left telling the board not backing the management, with money he earned for the club, would take them downhill. They thought they could easily replace him, it failed miserably and now they need him back? That's not Lenny with his tail between his legs, that's Lenny being 100% right.

    Neither.

I did consider Lambert but his record recently worries me. He doesn't excite me enough either.

I'd welcome him back. Bolton was a disaster that nobody could've saved. I just don't see it happening though, because it would be PL basically admitting he was wrong. I think Moyes is option #1.

I'd have Lennon back in a heartbeat. Just even for his interviewing style. I fall asleep during Deila post-match interviews, but Lennon has such a way with words.

What's more is Lennon knows exactly what it takes to qualify for the CL group stage.

Some people are probably put off because we didn't do so well last time we got to the CL group stage. Those people need to remember that getting to the group stage was mission accomplished that season, and anything else would have been a bonus.

Get Lennon in. He knows what kind of players should be in the Celtic team, he knows what mentality is required.

He is an astute tactician. We saw the best of Commons under Lennon and hopefully there's more.

Get Gary Hooper back while we're at it, and Stokesy back from Hibernian.

Hooper, Stokes up front, Commons in the hole. Perfect.

Bolton was a sinking ship. I think we were a lot more solid under Lennon. But part of me wants us to bring in someone new and embark on a new era.

You're wrong if you think he's going to walk into any meeting & demand this that & the other. He wants the job and making demands won't get him the job. If anything it will be Lawell saying 'it looks like the grass isn't greener Neil, now take what we give you or beat it'.

Anyway Lawell wouldn't want to lose face by bringing Lennon back. Not going to happen.

Does Neil Lennon really strike you as a character who wouldn't stand his ground? To back down when he knows he's right? A man who'd go on his hands and knees?

It's * weird what people read into peoples characters. He's never, in his 14 odd year Celtic career, struck me as somebody who would do anything of the sort. Which is why hleft in the first place.

Saying that, imagine Lawwell saying that, all he'd need to do is say I know while holding a picture of Ronny in his coupon :56:

Conversely Neil could say to PL "look your cheap * option didn't work if you want someone who can get us back in the CL you'll have to open the biscuit tin".

Perhaps it wont be Lawell''s choice this time. Perhaps DD will be pulling rank?

I think the problem is that you're not taking heed of Peter Lawell's character. Lennon won't be making demands. If he does then it won't be his job.

Lennons biggest chance of getting this job is by being the cheap option, again (I believe he wants the job & being the smart guy he is he will know that is his best hope).

He should go in there and say I gave you CL 16, beat Barcelona, have an eye for a player, will make you a huge profit on players & all within your budget constraints....I can do all that again and this time I won't be bumping my gums about money. (Because I ain't goin to get better than this :86:).

The words in his short interview with the BBC today were 'and I know what I'm walking into'. I think they are quite telling.

I agree with you. I think the job may well fall on his lap as i can see a few rejecting it after talks, as what has haplened in the past.
I just hope Lawell has learned as supposedly a good few rejected last time out and that should have alarm bells ringing.

I'd be happy if Lenny returned; but it would kind of feel like a wee step back maybe? He'd prob not want to start the process of making Broony a coach full time, which I think we should start as he is getting worse by the game and doesn't have the same impact he used to, which is natural.
Also, maybe Moyes would be able to do a good job here? At least we're giving ourselves a head start on picking a new man by announcing it all now. Ronnie will always have a place in my heart, good luck to the man.
