I know * all about them but Lawwell's wee friend over on CQN has published this so there is no smoke. They also do sponsor us already in some capacity as a matter of fact.

CQN the biggest heap of pish on the internet :52: Lawwell pal :52:

Clearly a numpty who has been duped or something. Fruity King have probably claimed they are going to sponsor Mayweather and build a new 200,000 stadium to host world cup finals.

They couldnt afford to sponsor Hamilton Accies :smiley-laughing002:

Aye likely. He is quire cosy with Lawwell though, not quite embedded journalism but he is a man who will toe the party line.

I dont really know much about it as i've never looked at it apart from 2/3 times over the years but I know that they write a lot of pish that you'd need to be sectioned if you believed any of it, although im not sure as I dont really know whats on it but im pretty sure its all nonsense.

Wouldnt suprise me if Fruity King gave the owner £20 to write it just to get more publicity.

Decided to look up how much he has really invested in Celtic.

1994, he spent £4million about £0.9million on Ordinary shares and £3.1million in Preference shares. 1999 he bought £8million of Ordinary shares off McCann, 2001 he bought £10million of Ordinary shares again, that was money basically raised to pay back debt from previous seasons and to be used to fund us a bit for another couple of seasons. 2005 he bought £8million of ordinary shares which was money raised to pay for Lennoxtown.

1994 - £26million raised for Celtic Park, Desmond paid £4million, although he said he would pay £8million if needed.

2001 - £22.5million raised for capital and to pay off debt, Desmond paid £10million and said he would pay £15million if needed.

2005 - £14.5million raised for Lennoxtown, Desmond paid £8million, said he would pay £10million if he needed to.

1998 - He bought £8million out of £23million that went to McCann(McCann orignally paid £9.5million for his shares).

So he in total has spent £22million out of the last £63million that was raised in shares for the club. And is in total £30million into the club out his own pocket. He has raised back around £3.4million in dividends on some of his shares and fees paid to him as a Director.

Just thought people would like to know as it's not really written down anywhere how much he has spent and people probably wonder about it.

There's a key difference between 'invested' and 'spent'.

He's invested loads into Celtic over the years through share issues, perhaps acting as underwriter for certain projects. It's not the same as me or you buying a matchday ticket though, he has a tangible asset the can appreciate in value.

Not a critiscism of him per se, just worth pointing out.

True and by going on possibly lowballed figures that presumably do not take his companies into account his annual yield is >10%.

He's also had personal financial involvement in a couple of player signings.

Aye like Fergus McCann who bought £9.5million of shares and sold them for £23million, also earned over £400k in his 5 years as a Director, so profited about £14million from 5 years work.

Desmond is currently down over £26million. Although his shares are worth £30/35million although possibly of no real value just now as no-one will buy them but if we moved to England or some kind of super League then they'd probably be worth £150million+

He probably doesnt care about that money though, peanuts to him he probably has 5x the money tied up in hotels in the Caribbean alone like Pink Sands and Sandy Lane.

And you know as well as I do that his 'tangible asset' could very well go down the tubes mate.

Before we know it we are going to have people saying its not right that an investor makes a return on their capital.

You have to dig through stuff and look at the relevant ones and then see what the shares were sold at. Think he bought like 65,000 shares at £60 each, 26million at 60p each, 10million at £1 each and can't mind McCanns shares if there were only in the thousands or millions then but he bought £8million worth off him at £2.80 each.

That's fine but the point I'm trying to make is that some people will take the figure DD has invested in Celtic through purchasing shares in the open market and confuse it with say, a Roman Abramovich style backing using personal wealth to fund the operations of the business.

    * explanation I know :smiley-laughing002:

Don't be stupid * sake I do it for a living. Theres no excuses from the Board when they are doing nothing to raise external revenue from another alternatives to attract better quality of players, instead its business as usual at the Golf resorts with DD, Lawwell is given 24/7 day to day runnings of the Club paid handsomely with £1m per year (this doesn't even include the manipulation of our shared equity price) while the austerity continues regarding the Football Department; inconsistent scouts, poor quality in recruiting players especially the Strikers position and gambling Managers.

The external business of Celtic is in Green with Lawwell balancing books and maintaining a cheap debt, however the structural framework of the Clubs operations are far too weak with the uncompromising business philosophy. Its completely unacceptable.

As I stated when I made the Fan Ownership thread the only benefits out of the Club are the owners and there salaries and commercial revenues. Were getting regression as a product, its BEYOND ME how people can continue to support this like they're education is from the Celtic View while regurgitating every context of authority from Pedro.

He only turns up to Champions league nights or when we play in the Last 16.

His bookies involvement is above making good money out of us^^^^
