Many were denying it, some were saying he wanted a new challenge. Its futile to suggest otherwise.

He's the majority shareholder of Celtic, he's not the chairman, CEO or any other position at the club that requires him to liaise with the SMS or indeed the fans, that's part of what he pays Lawwell and Bankier for.

It was because due to our small budgets we rely on a lot of luck to replace our best players and Lennon probably though there was no chance that he could strike gold again and manage to get replacements for Forster, K.Wilson, Ledley, Samaras, Hooper on the budget especially as years had passed since they came and Championship players like Forster, Wilson, Ledley and Hooper are now unobtainable even though back in 2010 we could still manage to get players from there, now those guys are all worth £5million+ each.

Do you get paid or what? If we wanted to we could go out and sign everyone of those players in the next window except for Forster. The will is not there to offer contracts in line with quality, we would rather buy in bulk and hope to get lucky than to go out and sign the right players.

I used it today before this came out and got the jaws ate off me. * Neil Francis Lennon. We should demand that the club apologies for destroying his work, beg him to come back and with assurances that the suits will stop sticking their beaks into the football business. What a manager he was too :shamrock:

Wouldn't take Lennon back. Nothing against him, done a good job while in charge but he left of his own free will.

Nothing has been downsized though, other than the quality of the team but as i've been saying that was inevitable and is going to continue.

The transfer spending and wagebill has been stable for a long time.

Strachan spent on average £9.2million per season
Mowbray spent £13.7million in his season
Lennon spent on average £8.3million per season
Ronny spent £9.4million in his first season + £5.5million in the summer there, then whatever since then on Sviatchenko, Ajer, Roberts, Kazim-Richards and Cole probably atleast £3million so again near £9million again.

    Our wagebills...

    2001/02 £32.75m*
    2002/03 £33.08m
    2003/04 £40.50m*
    2004/05 £37.39m*
    2005/06 £32.49m
    2006/07 £36.42m*
    2007/08 £38.98m*
    2008/09 £38.75m*
    2009/10 £36.48m
    2010/11 £32.66m
    2011/12 £33.88m
    2012/13 £40.75m*
    2013/14 £37.77m*
    2014/15 £33.27m

Wagebill is only really above £35million in those years where we'd have paid a lot in bonuses for getting into the CL Groups* which I marked with the wee star thing.

    Well ask yourself this ....

Would you rather have the three stoogies in the dug out that we have now or a man who bleeds green and white..?

I know what I would choose

Aye and you'd rather be a millionaire and pumping Mila Kunis anaw :smiley-laughing002: Moyes wouldnt touch us wi a barge pole for fucksake. He could walk into the Sunderland job or one like that and be on about £60-80k per week, fail at the job then walk into the Aston Villa job on the same fail at that then he'd maybe come to Celtic on £15k a week.

He won't risk the Celtic job knowing if he fails here earning peanuts his tea will be oot and he'll never earn big money again.

    * sake and I am called negative. I think your defeatist attitude is pathetic to be honest and you are using figures disingenuously as well. Just because our spending is in line and constant does not mean we have not downsized. We are not giving decent contracts to the likes of Ledely but instead packing the squad full of projects hoping to get lucky. We are going for quantity over quality. And if you really look at those figures and take into account the money made from selling everything but the North Stand combined with the CL money Lennon made for us then we are indeed downsizing. Not expanding the wage bill and using the money is downsizing in its own right.

True but to say that we are not downsizing is either disingenuous or a lie. Look at the money brought in through player sales and CL qualification. The fact that the figures are the same indicates this money was not spent on the team either through wages or transfer fees. This is downsizing. When you sell and dont reinvest that is downsizing. Which part do you not understand?

That league needs created now. At that point they should change the champions league to allow teams from out with Europe a chance to compete. MLS, China etc. The money involved in those leagues and the new money in a European league would break up the same 4 in the semis, every year champions league.
