Laudrup.... hailed as one of their best.... analise his game... it wasnt about footballing trickery it was all about knocking the ball ten yards into space and using his pace to outrun every defender in the country. when his legs went he was quickly dispatched... a better player wold have moved position and played for another 3 years..... over rated * stain.

PISH. My Dad was one of 3 Catholics in his school and had to fight with knuckle dragging * on a daily basis and 20 years on its a bit better but i've been ina fair few scraps because of my faith so to say that sectarianism didnt exist in Dundee is crap because i live in Glenrothes and since Dundee is bigger wit abigger RC population i'm sure it has/had a bigger sectarian problem

The north of Scotland is overwhelmingly protestant but there are practically no lodges north of Perth because the orange tradition doesnt exist (blow-ins aside). Remember, orangism is the mark of an Ulster protestant immigrants to Scotland not a Scots one so where you find orangism the protestant Irish have settled. It was unknown in Scotland until they brought it. I read a study which said there is little sectarianism in Dundee and Aberdeen because in Dundee only the 'green' Irish settled. They hadnt their orange counterparts to fight with, the locals werent too bothered and the Irish quickly got into socialism and left Irish nationalism well alone. In Aberdeenshire a fair amount of the local Scots were catholics so catholicism was not seen as an Irish thing. In the west-central area and the mining towns the green and orange Irish settled close to each other so bedlam kicked off and has never left. Its often brushed under the carpet by both sides but orangism is as much an Irish import as the green stuff.

The Celtic Song so long as Dean Park doesn't sing it.
Slightly off topic old boy but have to ask where you came by the study. Was it by Professer Devine. I attended one of his lectures on this very subject in Edinburgh at a venue hosted by the Scottish Historical Society. You kind of summed up what he said.

At least Orangism is dying out in the Central belt now and it's all down to education.

. Aye its a bit of topic but someone brought up the subject of sectarianism experiences in the east of Scotland so just saying what I have read about its distribution and origins. Pretty sure it was Devine who is THE expert on the issue. Glad you know it so I cant be accused of making this up.:50: Think I have read a couple of pieces by him on the subject on books on Scots history. Its obvious anyway. All the orange stuff is so Ulster orientated, its roots over the water are as clear as day. I dont like the way tims wrongly sometimes try to portray the sectarian stuff as bigoted * scots v decendants of irish catholic immigrants. Its more like decendants of green Irish v decendants of orange Irish.

Ricksen, Amoruso, Ferguson x 2 (Ian and Barry), Novo, Hutton, yes in fact all of them. And Chick Young. [edit] And Archie macpherson
