Who would be your replacement for Ronny?

Lennon will be the back up guy if Brendan says no a cheap option who'd keep the majority of the fanbase happy

I think the excitement is justified because it would have been easy for us to turn around and give the job to Lambert or Lennon. Now we're getting a guy who was brought to Chelsea by Mourinho. A guy who later got Swansea promoted to the premier league and finished 11th the following season despite being favourites to go down. A guy who was then deemed good enough to be Liverpool manager and who maybe was a little harshly sacked following one season where they achieved their best ever Premier League finish.

If Brendan wasn't a Celtic fan I don't think we'd have a hope of getting him. I share your reservations about whether or not he's really as good as he's being made out. However, this would be a real statement of intent by DD and the board and it would definitely have me excited for the season ahead.

If I was a fan in Scotland debating with myself whether or not I should fork out the money for a ST, this appointment would definitely persuade me.

I don't know if a majority of the fan base would be happy with Lennon now though, I for sure wouldn't

 

Out of interest, does anyone know how much leeway DD has to use his own personal money to bring Rodgers in?

I've heard stuff like this (highly doubt he'll be on anything like 48k) but I'm wondering if he's actually allowed to use much of his own personal money? Are there not rules in place to stop things like that?

Maybe but im sure they would come to some sort of agreement, offshore account with £1million in it, free use of anything Desmond owns £10k a night hotels, private jet, live rent free in a house Demsond owns in Glasgw, golf memberships or whatever. If Rodgers signed for £15k a week im sure Desmond could sweeten him up personally some other way without it involving Celtic as a side agreement.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited too, it's just a bit of pessimism I suppose. He's certainly a coup
