I want to know what he's being paid - going all ILTC.

Was scouring the internet today and there were a few articles that said MON was on £34k a week in his last few yearly contracts at Celtic, with his initial contract being £20k a week. But that was after bonuses and such.

Surely we aren't going to be paying him £2m+ there has to be bonuses involved there?

What a statement that would be. Tremendous effort by the board, vindicate themselves if they pull this one off.

It won't be truly vindicated until I see what they give him in terms of transfer funds, that's my main interest :smiley-laughing002:

Probably the same in all honesty.

Best signings have been his cheapest ones, he can work on a budget.

I suppose, it depends where he would be wanting to go shopping though.

I think they might actually back him with something substantial, at least compared to what we have been used to lately. Big double D has moved up in the Irish rich list so he might have a spare £20m he's no arsed about.

I don't think Rodgers would come here to play about with £5m or so, put it that way. We are 3 or 4 quality additions away from a decent team again.

How much you reckon Joe Allen would cost us?

Can't quote you MM but aye, I really hope so.

I always wonder why DD doesn't try and do what other football owners do and just set up a company of sort (I know naw that easy) and sponsor us. Basically what the Arabs do for Man City and P.S.G. and funnel the money legally that way. At least then he could pump money in.

BUT as has been pointed out many times on here - we're a PLC so he can't just throw £20m at us and let us go carte blanche - unless he did what I previously mentioned.

Interesting, dunno how anyone could possibly know that though:smiley-laughing002:

What is it he is worth, £1.6bn or something?:smiley-laughing002: I know it's easy for me to sit here with not a penny to my name but he could surely afford to throw a bit more cash at us than he has been lately, I know the business side of things as you say makes it a little more complicated than that but, still.

People talk about us being already good enough on paper to qualify for the CL, and, with a bit of luck, we probably are. However we could really ensure our status as a regular CL club by spending a bit extra in the transfer market and getting in the players who can make a difference. Even Sviatchenko level players or Elyounoussi, a match winner at that level. It's a case of speculating even a wee bit to accumulate, IMO. If we could regularly start qualifying again we'd be laughing, especially with the BT deal now.

Once we are in there I'm not overly arsed on how we do, as long as it's not embarrassingly poor and humpings all round.

That right there should be our level and it's extremely affordable. Imagine a team of Sviatchenko level players? How much did he cost, less than £2 million?

We don't need any superstars, just a team full of solid players who you can rely on. Elyounoussi would be the perfect start.

I think what's putting people off becoming our manager isn't the budget but the fact we have Efe as part of the squad.
He would put off anyone with any sense from becoming our manager.

Whoever is appointed has so much pressure on them to qualify in their first season. Which I would like to hope the likes of Brendan Bhoy would strive upon, perhaps making the position that bit more enticing for a manager who is eager to prove themeselves. I think that's why Rodgers is so appealing. We need someome with a bit of an ego/presence, albeit a humble individual at that. That to me is the Celtic way.

The Record headline is pathetic. It wouldnt exactly be breaking the bank to make him the highest paid manager would it? A £1 more would do it! Get that * rag off of here.
