Starting to get * off a bit tbh. Genuine question: why does it take so long ?

They've known for months that Ronny was off, and even announced it a month ago. Surely they had a shortlist of 4-5 people, and then start sounding them out, interviewing etc.
Then the successful candidates or ones that leave a good impression get 'round 2' or whatever the * they're calling it.
Then dwindle it down to 1, agree terms etc and that's that.

    * is the hold up ?

That's what £7 million per season and the 6th highest paid manager in the world will get you.

It was naive to not see out the game when it went to 3-1, I agree there. However, the league was lost against Chelsea, when Gerrard took his eye off the ball and let it roll under his foot.

Rodgers is a fantastic manager I for one will be delighted if he gets appointed the most excitement I've felt since MON was appointed

That's experience I'm sure he will learn from. He only hopefully needs a side assembled to beat a malmo type side.

Imbecile, would he rather not Messi?

Terry just signed a 1 year deal btw with Chelsea.

Whether you like the sound of him or not, Rogers would be a marquee signing, no doubt about it. I'd say his is the biggest reputation since MON, perhaps even bigger given his last club was a title-challenging Liverpool side. He's a major name in the UK game, maybe even in europe, and him coming to Celtic would elevate our rep, especially down south.

With the huns being promoted (and given our flailing credentials) I was fearing a summer of 'rangers this..' and 'rangers that...' as the true blue media engage in a 6 week circle-*. But with Rogers, even those in camp reach-around would have to sit up and take notice.

It would say a whole lot about our ambition as a club. For me, I like him. I remember listening to a long radio interview he did with Colin Murray. it was the beginning of the 'slip' season, and he was talking about Suarez who had spit the dummy following a blocked transfer to Arsenal. He came across so well, so passionate, articulate, but kind of forceful with it, a no-nonsense edge. He obviously did well given the season Suarez and Liverpool went on to have.

I know doubt hangs over him following his departure at liverpool, but with the disappointment of coming so close that season, I think it's perfectly human how the whole club seemed to respond, made worse by the sale of their best player. They were gutted and couldn't shake it off. That's just life.

I think we're kidding ourselves if we think BR is a mistake, or not the best option. I'd have been happy with Lenny, but Rogers is a big deal and a guy who could do great things here.

Hey, you never know, maybe we'll get Malky as his assistant - might be the best way for him to get back into the game, less pressure and focus on him and the hiring club.

Anyone read the statement from Celtic yet? Seems like a bit of a "don't get your hopes up" message. I can imagine this appointment for them being a bit like falling out with the Mrs and swithering between petrol station flowers or buying a new car to get yourself back in the good books.

I honestly think that appointing Rodgers would be a huge sign of intent from Desmond and the board, the likes of which we've not seen since O'Neill arrived.

In fact, as the poster above says, it could even be bigger considering where Rodgers last job was.

Statement from the Club couldn't hint more at the fact we're going to appoint someone else and then at least we've released a statement to say we didn't really prioritise Rodgers anyway :56:

    Brace yourselves for Lenny.

Really, really hope that it is Brendan Rodgers...

Worrying thing is I can definitely seeing Lawwell wheeling out Neil Lennon, really hope not though.

Thinking of players willing to come here rather than a mid-table EPL side.

    Probably murph..

But if both had been level going into the last game who knows what could have happened..

Anyway my main point is that, he must have learned from that experience.
