It's gonna be so sad if we end up with something like McKay after building our mind's up up on Rodgers :54: It'll feel a bit like going in and trying on a new pair of trainers and then being told you aren't getting them and being forced to put the old ragged stale one's back on :54:

Same here, I have these same doubts.

Hoping that if talks didn't go well for whatever reason, the fact that Dermot Desmond's involved and apparently interviewed him yesterday in Ireland (I read this somewhere) he would hopefully turn it round.

I think he would sell the job better to potential managers than Lawwell.

Probably because you or more likely yer Ma, didn't have the money. Ma's are sensible and they know best. Anyway you probably looked a right Jessie in those fluorescent purple and pink ones with the lime green spots.

Get the feeling Celtic know it's not Rodgers and that's why they have came out quickly and tried to stop fans building hopes up, we will get the old we spoke to Brendan but we couldn't agree on terms *.

Lambert on ss news says he hasn't been asked to take on job, but sounds interested, doubt any contact has been made from us by the sounds of it.

That statement to me , strongly suggests that it wont be Rodgers. Club have seen bookies putting him 1/10 and SSN implying it's a done deal the club have stepped in to manage expectations and mimimise the backlash/anguish from fans when Malky is (inevitably ) announced.

We have seen it all before , this board will let us down time and time again.

Think most of us realise how it works but I'm fairly sure you don't get bonuses for being on gardening leave.
As always the Daily Record has printed an inaccurate story to put a negative slant on what could be big news for us.

I've got a worry that they have released that statement as it's not gona be Rodgers and they don't want to tell whoever it is that they were second choice for the job:54:

That statement sounds to me like they're trying to cool the fans' expectations because it won't be Rodgers. I hope I'm being paranoid.

Good news if that's the case.

I do think we will make a serious effort to bring him in.

The bigger the job, the more common it is to have more than 1 interview. I think the fact that we've, apparently, spoken to BR twice, made the hacks jump to the conclusion that he's our man.

The money involved in this deal would be huge - salary, bonuses, back room staff, new players with basic + bonuses - so it would be incredible if we or anyone made a decision on 1 interview. I would be happy with BR but as I've already posted, it would be a huge financial gamble made on the basis that the £25m secured from CL qualification would cover that debt - and not just this year but every year BR was Manager.

Last week PL said we wouldn't gamble, so why 1 week later would we suddenly do an about turn?
