    I'm really worried about this.

How far would we be willing to stretch, I mean we only paid MON £20k a week, Ronny is on about £5k. Would £30k even suffice?

Better than nout at the moment though.

If we can pay Scott Brown 25k a week, we can offer Rodgers more. We'll be shifting a lot of squad players anyway so should have a good chunk of money available.

£2mil a year is £38k per week. I think we should offer it. Guaranteed he'll be on more than any player, so creates automatic authority.

£1.5 million per year? That seems reasonable. He was on around, what? £3 million a year at Liverpool? Not to mention he pocketed close to £7 million as a pay off when he got bumped.

I think he'll know the kind of wages we can offer, and as long as the board don't treat him in the same way as Keane claimed he was treated we should hopefully get him.

I think with Desmond making the appointment, he will reach an agreement on Salary. £25-30k a week for a manager is about £1.4m a year. How often do we * £1m+ on a * signing that would be on £10k+ on top of that? Rodgers is well worth that money.

The big question is , how much will he get in transfer money. £10m maybe £15mil if he's really lucky.

Not the worst idea I've ever heard..

Biggest worry? It will be a relief to know we're going out our way to spend a bit and attract a top manager. A signal of intent and shows the boss has had reassurances as well..

Be major if this pulls off. Rodgers isn't coming up to shop about with a mill and the board know he guarantees extra bums on seat's and also taps back in to the Irish market in my opinion. Extra dosh all round..

We aren't putting our self in the *. We've been stringent for long enough. It's time we really speculate to accumulate..

Aye, I was thinking in the line of £2m a year.

That would be more than what a few Premiership managers are on, more than most French/Italian/German/Spanish teams are paying.

Rogers would be a risk in my opinion. He has never won anything and was useless in Europe.

The very fact that our preliminary offer was deemed serious enough by Rodgers and his agent to actually travel up here and talk to us suggests we've not lowballed him in a ridiculous fashion, so we can be hopeful I guess.

I don't necessaril think his appointment would mean big spending mind.

He's shown he can do well with less money - Swansea - although he has signed a few dodgy * for big bucks. :smiley-laughing002:

A decent manager would solve a lot of probelsm though, you don't always need to spend massiveley with a good manager in place.

Of course but it certainly means he'll have decent enough backing..

He's literally the best option we have, along with Moyes.

I actually thought that! Reading what Keane said, it was basically as if Lawwell did everything he could to put him off! :smiley-laughing002:

    Aye, hopefully mate.

Trying not to get the hopes up but this would be fantastic. Im looking forward to the season ahead.

Wonder why we haven't went near Moyes though? I mean it won't matter if we get Rodgers but if we don't? We're back to square one.

No way are we bringing in a fresh, trophy-laden, European dynamo though. Rodgers has managed one of the biggest clubs in the world, produced their best league performance in the last 20 years and played lots of exciting football, this after proving himself at Swansea. He'd be a great appointment :50:
