Rodgers apparently was approached before xmas about taking over Swansea and told them he wanted a break until the summer, no agreement was ever reached for him to come back. Guidolin was only on a short term deal and was merely in until end of season. He has done a decent job and alot of Swans fans wanted Guidolin to be given a chance. Apparently Swansea Ceo Jenkins wasnt happy about Rodgers speaking to Celtic either but seems unlikely given that Rodgers wasnt actually interviewed until this week about the job.

Also from what i have read down here the takeover will still go ahead, its all being held up over whats shares get sold by what shareholders.

Get the feeling a good manager would be announced sooner rather than later so why a fortnight. :54:

Not really, these things take time.

If anything, a * manager could be announced earlier - less hassle, less money and nothing really needed doled out.

Ah I see, no idea Guidolin was on a temp deal.

Makes alot more sense now why they would have a convo with BR.

If all these rumors are to be belived though it looks promising. The only fly in the ointment is Lawwells sun interview (claiming we werent going to "speculate" transfer wise. Hard to see BR accepting a job were he will be denied REAL investment in the playing squad.

Rafa wouldn't come here he needs big funds, great European pedigree that 2005 Liverpool squad Gerrard and Carragher aside was average and they beat Juventus, Chelsea and Milan so he could work wonders here

Anyone else really worried about this appointment?

I am seriously worried, we see all these names being linked and we get our hopes up that someone good will be coming in and they will be backed financially so good signings and good style of play etc but we said all this 2 years ago when Lennon left and * me have we been mugged off! We look back at this time 2 years ago and how we hoped it would be this man or that man and how its gotta be a big appointment and we all never seen Ronny being given the job, dont think he was even mentioned as a candidate. Nothing has changed, in fact it could be argued that the job is harder and less appealing than it was wen Lennon left given the dross we have in abundance.

Everything thats been happening recently smacks of deja vu and its hard to be optimistic when we have been here before and we know how that turned out.

Fucknows where the fat waiter will go to.

Bounces from job to job, sacked here and there and picks up stupid pay cheques for it. :smiley-laughing002:

    Good manager aswell.

Im hoping for one of the big 3, Keane, Moyes, Rodgers. But with the way Celtic have done their recent business I wouldn't be surprised if its Lambert, Caldwell, Mackay...

Quite a few things have changed.

I think (pray) Desmond realises he needs to pull something out the hat here.

There's only two big names here - Rodgers and Moyes.

Everyone else listed is a no go personally. Keane? Big personality and I'm a fan of the man himself but that doesn't make a good manager - have one look at his record and it's appalling.

Lennon? Please * no - an abject embarrassment at Bolton, he would do no better than Ronny under this squad. The guy doesn't have any 'big ideas' as to how move the club forward at all - neither has the structural know how from top to bottom unlike Rodgers or Moyes.

Failing to get a massive coup like Rodgers or Moyes, it would be worth finding a hidden gem. That will generate a few groans as we will be 'doing a Ronny' but it would be stupidity to ignore some very decent managers mingling around in Germany for example simply because Ronny didn't work out. They can't be any worse than the likes of Lennon, Evans, etc.

Agreed strongly. If it isn't to be Rodgers or Moyes, I say we go foreign again. I do fear our board thinking "we can't go foreign again after Ronny failed", but if it isn't one of those two, then it's our best option. I know any foreign appointment will be met with "who :97:" and multiple misspellings of his name by some of our fans/part time fans, but we should be brave and go for it anyway.
