This, there's been far more wrong at Sunderland than just Keane. As I've said before loads of good managers have "failed" there and ended up leaving/getting sacked.

Besides Sunderland are a club who's always fought relegation. In fact there were pretty much a yoyo club getting relegated and promoted a few times within about 5 seasons and Keane managed to keep them up so it's something he should take credit for and we don't know how well they'd have done if he stayed there until the end of the 08/09 season.

Chris McLaughin (BBC sports guy) has said on twitter that betting has been suspended on Roy Keane but word from inside the club is that no decision is imminent and they are still at the interviewing stage.

    I agree completely.

Apart from his record - what about the comments he came out with about Celtic not valuing him highly enough 2 years ago.

Typical Keane - can't keep his mouth shut - he could either have kept the whole thing private or just said that he had spoken to the club but it wasn't right at this point in time. Instead, he goes to the press and slags the club off.

If DD is really considering Keane, I'm very disappointed - Celtic don't need to go back to this guy after what he did/said - he's hardly Pep or Jose.

If he is appointed, I think that it will alienate a fair percentage of fans, he will send a lot of money (relatively speaking) on crap players, he will lose half the dressing room and most of the press within 6 months - and ultimately he'll have a row with DD or PL and storm out probably not even completing 1 season.

It's also true that his signings were poor which actually makes him a better manager considering he got very decent results with a very poor squad. Most managers would have got relegated with the squad he had, which fair enough he built but it'll be a lot easier to get good players at Celtic due to our decent scouting etc now than buying basically all your players from the English Championship which he done at Sunderland.

This was his Sunderland most used XI in the EPL

    Gordon
    Nosworthy D.Collins Higginbotham K.Richardson
    C.Edwards Whitehead Leadbitter R.Wallace
    Chopra Jones

Imagine keeping that team in the EPL, only 2 of whom really Gordon and Kenwayne Jones were EPL class :smiley-laughing002:

Roy Keane may actually be the messiah fucksake

The only thing that would disappoint me about Keane is that i didn't back him at 20/1 when I was telling everyone in cork that he could be the next Celtic manager. Well before the hun game.

Roy Keane is a *, a poor manager and he already turned us down.

I would rather they gave the job to Efe.

His comments in his book were disrespectful to be honest, he said the club was playing the 'its celtic' card as if he should have come running. Hes a jumped up *, falls out with everyone and it is only because of his name, the fact hes Irish and the fact hes Desmonds mate is he being considered in my opinion. Its not on his managerial record anyways.

    Desmond's mate? Don't think so.
Desmond is a Keane fan more like.
He said in that book that he had only ever met Dermot Desmond before once and that was when he was signing.
What I believe is that Desmond wants Keane and Roy is a legend in Cork.
    Desmond is a cork man.
Desmond wants Keane again the same as he wanted him as a player when Strachan didn't want him and same as before Ronny he wanted him as manager.

To me he seems to be the guy Dermot Desmond really wants.

He turned us down last time and it seems he is still at the forefront of the board's thoughts this time, looks like Dermot is willing to put the previous rejection aside and still pursue him.

The odds of Roy Keane have come in a lot since people have been talking about him from 7/2 1 hour or so ago to odds on with some bookies or around evens - which is probably all nonsense since the rumours were spread as betting being suspended when it wasnt and he was actually still a good price :56:. Probably now time to put a bet on Paul Lambert who is 12/1 with Bet365 and WilliamHill.

If it's Roy Keane then Desmond better fund it out his own pocket or he really can get to *.

Mate was the wrong word, should have said he must be Desmond's love child. I have no doubt Keane is a legend in Cork and rightly so, playing career wise their have been few better for club or country. Managerial wise, of all the candidates in the world the best we can do is someone who walked away from Sunderland when they were 18th and was sacked by Ipswich when they were 21st. His last managerial job was 5 years ago.
