Yeah, I agree. The least of Ronny's problems was his work-ethic or being too cautious.

    Well, we did, at times.

And it's clear that he is attack minded even if it didn't come off here at the level he wanted.

How many quality teams did we actually face in Europe under Ronny? We had every right to attack. Only problem being either the players he picked/signed were crap, the tactics were *, we were low on fitness, or he failed to make replacements at the right times. He was fond of a negative sub Ronny, too.

Rodgers' price has been shortened by all the bookies today. 4/1 most places and best price 6/1 right in from about 20/1. Hopefully there's some substance to it.

Inter and Fener were above us in quality. Last season his tactics got better as we progressed then not replacing Virgil and Denayer quick enough ruined us this season but that's hardly Ronny's fault when the board never really backed him. Ronny never learned from his mistakes was his issue.
Nothing to do with your original point anyway.

Both were *, let's face it. The quality of the two clubs in comparison to our own is/was minimal. Absolutely no reason to go defensive against such fodder, and a completely different discussion than my original point which you led us down. If you want to corroborate your statement that Ronny was attack minded, please do. I'm sure the statistics will be their to smash that argument to pieces, as well as the complete dissatisfaction from our fans which is evident to see from the empty stands and bitterness that has crept into our support since Lennon was released.

    Inter weren't, Fenerbache were though.

    * by there usual standards but still far above us and our financial power. We are no longer a big team in Europe, a very average Europa League team is what we are. The point being that we never went defensive in Europe which you are agreeing yet I'm betting previous managers would of went defensive against the same teams.
Statistics? Watched every game under Ronny and he was always setting us up to attack, though this season we fell away which was just as much down to the team as the man in charge.
Fair enough not many people liked Ronny's tactics but they certainly were attack minded majority of the time.
More and more fans have become fickle, forgetting we are not able to keep up with the English championship financially never mind any other league, we have no divine right to be in Europe or beat teams that are above us.
    Lennon walked away.

Wish people would stop saying Ronny wasn't backed by the board - he got to spend plenty and brought in quite a few reasonably expensive loans.

Doesn't it work out he has spent the same as Lenny in his first two season? And Lennon still had the Huns financially doping.

Just wish we had some evidence we were cracking on with this though.

They still had good players in that squad, plus they had Mancini back bringing them back up the league and on the rise again.

No, we're a * * Europa League team. We didn't win a game in the Europa this season.

With no 'English champions' in our group, oh if only we had the financial might of the mighty Molde. Or Malmo for that matter. Or even Maribor.

They were absolutely gash and weren't playing as a team. Not getting anywhere near what they should out of their players. Similar to us with Ronny in that regards.

The only team that played as an actual team, attacking and defending together, in our group were Molde. Which is why they romped it fairly easily.

First season we got in 5 loans and spent roughly 4-5M on 4 players while selling Forester for 10M.
    That's hardly being back well.

Inter were *? Look at their starting eleven, their players were far far better than ours. Expecting to beat a team like Inter is a bit harsh.

I do agree we should have been better than Fenerbache and Molde though.

Inter finished 8th in Serie A last season, winning 14 out of 38 games. This season they've improved slightly, but qualifying for the Europa league will be seen as a success. They've been on the decline for some time, and Italy itself to a wider degree. If we face Serie A teams in the future, we should not be expecting to get spanked. An attack minded setup would prevail under the right leadership.

We attacked Intee, we scored 3 goals against them. At that point, Gordon * us.

But the weak defensive mentality always got to us. We need a balance.

Lennon lost McManus, Boruc, McGeady and Fortune. To the tune of £14million.
Then spent roughly £6.5million rebuilding the squad.

    What's the difference?

McManus was punted under Mowbray at Christmas, general point stands though.

Was it a loan? Transfer Wiki says he was sold in July 2010? :smiley-laughing002:
    I can't remember myself.
