    Without a doubt.

What makes anyone think Larsson will give up his own managerial position in order to become Paul Lamberts assistant?

Load of nonsense, he is his own man.

No chance Henke would come in on that basis.

    Of course it * is:smiley-laughing002:

Henrik Larsson and Paul Lambert will never be a management duo, at any team, ever.

Ok fair enough, Just cannot see Moyes or Rodgers taking a huge salary reduction, both of them must have been on around 3-4 million at least at Everton, Man U and Liverpool, working with a small budget at a lower level than they are used to with the Scottish league. They could both still get a club down in England such as Villa, Swansea or Everton etc and any achievements they have up here short of a good European run will be overlooked down south anyway.

Basing the reasoning behind the Lambert Larsson duo on the fact that Deila was willing to take assistant here after having success in the Norwegian league as a manager, also they have said in the past they would like to come back here and do a similar set up (no doubt they were half joking half serious but anyway). If Lambert does get it of course he would be approached at to be assistant would he take it? doubtful but who knows.

    Both are currently on £0

Can't see even Lawwell reducing that!

I would say the week of Ronny's departure we will have an appointment made. Well I hope so anyways. Im still of the opinion that Rodgers and Moyes are using us to gain more traction in the EPL and that Lambert or Lennon are probably our best bets. I read a bit of Keanes book last night again and I can't see him being offered it again- he was very dismissive in what he said I feel and dont want him near Parkhead.

Also with the euros he wont be available until mid-end june at best. Same with Michael O'Neil, our season really starts on 1st June with the qualifiers up so early and its to late waiting on these guys to finish their campaigns I feel.

A left field appointment is out of the question after Ronny and I would imagine a Hartley or Stubbs would go down so badly it wont be entertained.

Can just picture Rogers getting the job, skelping the Huns and singing Rebs. :56:

Football would probably be good, too. I'll always be a Roy Keane man, and I think he'd be a massive success here if the board stop being * for two seconds. Dermot - make it so.

Glad to see Lambert's odds lengthening and Rodgers shortening now joint 2/1 with Hills (8/1 still with Betvic) even though all the gambles have meant * all so far.

Rodgers ticks a lot of boxes:
    - young
    - experienced
    - plays the Celtic way
    - Celtic minded
    - brings through youth
    - used to big squads
    - used to big budgets

Gotta keep our feet on the ground, but getting him in would be a coup. As it goes, we'll probably get Lambert or Lennon. I just don't want Moyes.

And one big massive problem for me with Rodgers - puts his philosophy infront of pragmatism. I've no doubt he's a manager who would think we could go for it with Barca if we were in the CL.

His football is good but we definitely need a manager who can go from being very attacking one week to very defensive the next.

Rodgers Liverpool sides knew they could outscore opponents hence why he played that way

Wouldn't be too worried about the defensive side of Rodgers' game in terms of what he likes to play. From what I remember at Swansea they were very good at defending high up the pitch as a team and very good at keeping the ball for long periods even against some of the better teams. I don't think he'd play the ultra attacking way he did at Liverpool in terms of high pressing all out attack, he simply played that way because they had one of the best strikers in the planet and 3 others attacking players who were extremely talented. Also they had very poor defenders so they might as well have played that way. And he got them to overachieve doing that.

I don't think we necessarily have to sit back to defend well against better team, we simply have to know how to keep the ball well and not allow the opposition to get into areas which can hurt us too often. I think this is something that Rodgers is reasonably good at.

This is my worry with him.

I see him as being a lot like Deila. Only difference is he could probably implement his style better (maybe, no guarantees).

Except we saw nothing to indicate Deila is an attack minded manager during his time at Celtic...

Rodgers would be a completely different animal. He's a hard worker and confident. Both qualities Ronny fails to share as well.

Ronny was definitely attack minded, in Europe we never really set up to defend it was to always try and press high and get on the front foot. You can't say he's not a hard worker either, Ronny's main failing was not being able to implement everything he wanted the team to be and play.

The longer this goes on, the more I fear the worst. They should know who they want just get it done.
