I just don't understand the desire for Moyes. The guy is a safe pair of hands nothing more. His football has never been easy on the eye & there's nothing in his managerial career that stands out for me. No trophies, dismal in European football & I'm sure he had a * awful record against the big 4 in his time at Everton as well. His last 2 appointments have ended in sackings & I think with the pressure of the Celtic job he would crumble.

Rodgers is just another Ronny. An idealist who's teams could not defend and conceded an insane amount of goals. His European record is even worse than Moyes. Hearts took them all the way in a Europa Qualifier :88:. He would be terrible in Europe for is much like Ronny was.

These are my concerns. Too many Celtic fans think football is just the EPL and fall for all the marketing :50:

So on that basis he would never cope like lenny did, with the selling of his best players every season end.

Jeez he loses one player and they slump, hardly great news for a club like ours.

Pretty much my position. I like Lambo and like to think he'd be a good manager here but there are other candidates I'd rather have first.

Were they not like best pals when they were here? I seem to remember an old Celtic DVD where Lambert said they met up early every morning for a game of pool.

For me Di Matteo ticks all the boxes & we have a realistic chance of getting him.

Eeeemmm? (Assuming your tongue is not in cheek)

Because he is! As a manager... 38.5 % win stats on all the clubs managed from Livvi to Blackburn.. Do we want that?

We have to escape this big name past player link thing!

Yes he was a top player ....

He came with a European Cup medal to his name and won it fending off Zidane in the final! And for a bit when MON was there we also had a manager with one if those medals as well...

In fact .. Didn't 'oldhuns' go out and buy one of the de-boers or somebody in a panic so that they also had a CL. winner in their squad?

But.... As a manager... Utter pish!

You just can't argue for it.

Sadly.. Any manager decent enough that we should want him ... Will be too good and expensive that he won't be interested in us.

The only leverage we have is the chance of a decent European run.... Moyes and co. Are not going to get that at Villa or Everton.

    But then again money talks...

Villa get 99 million pounds for being the shittest team in the division .
Where can we go when up against that?

Could anyone even 20 years ago or so ( maybe 10) have imagined that a small time club like Bournmouth ( support wise) would dwarf us in terms of finances?

That where we are at! Big fish - small pond! Bournmouth , tiny fish - massive pond.

Lambert might be about our mark based on all that. But still wouldn't want him.

Back to back promotions with Norwich isn't too shabby, I think he is decent kind of got a raw deal at villa. I just don't won't him cause I don't like his teams don't play good football!

I just think its a bit unfair calling him a dud. His win percentage means nothing given that he managed teams not expected to win every week.Done well with Wycombe then Norwich and I think Villa would have been a bad move for any manager.

I'm not saying he's the answer but he's not a dud.

Di Matteo by far the most solid candidate.. Also up there with Rodgers and Moyes as one of the hardest to get but

I think he's definitely within our grasp. Far more attractive candidate than Moyes for me & CL winning manager don't come along too often.

    From Skysports:

Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, who has been out of management since leaving Bundesliga club Schalke in May 2015, joined Clarke on the Goals on Sunday sofa.

But the Italian refused to be drawn on whether he would take the job if offered the position.

"No, I have not [been offered the job]," Di Matteo told Ben and Kammy. "I don't know, if ever it comes up I will think about it."

I saw that too! Good response imo, shows hes open to it.. Would be far better than the likes of McKay, Keane or Clarke and has solid managerial experience and achievements behind him like you said. Would defo be my number 1 choice

We will get the manager we deserve, we call ourselves the best supporters in the world,
the ground is half empty every other week, where is our great support, no where to seen
toys thrown out the pram, come to the game and show your commitment to the club,
a full house every other week will attract a successful manager.

    brendon rodgers ticks every box

    celtic fan
    plays football the celtic way.
he has learned from the best i.e tommy burns, mourinho.
said he would walk to parkhead if offered the job.

we need a manager that plays the game the right way after 2 years of the dross deila served up.
the board have got to show ambition now or risk empty stadiums for years to come.

In terms of style of play I would love Rodgers but if we want someone that's going to do something on the European front then I don't think he's the right man for the job. His Liverpool team leaked goals & his European record was mince. Also some managers have come here with reputations for great attacking football & then come up against blanket defences that just won't open up & it all falls down. Mowbray & Deila for example.
